Todo mi modo de vida, no sólo mis creencias, era esperar. Viajar a Hachshara[6] o unirse al Partido Comunista no era mesiánico en sí mismo, pero sí estaba ligado a ideas mesiánicas. Sin embargo, en 1968 nos enfrentamos al desafío definitivo de tener que actuar aquí y ahora en nuestra propia vida como si el Mesías ya estuviera aquí. La anticipación como modo de vida, no como creencia: eso era el verdadero mesianismo.[7]
