How are all the ideas for fabric designs generated? Is there a recipe for this? »Gathering inspiration« is the answer that comes to mind spontaneously. And already one has reached the heart of the issue – and the end of the recipe idea. Inspiration is not a fixed list of ingredients for a dish, but rather something extremely individualised that can't be bought in the supermarket, nor in the delicatessen. One gathers inspiration while travelling throughout the southern states of the USA, another finds it in the chamber music of Peter Tschaikowsky, and the next one in the paintings of Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc. One is inspired by the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef, another by mountain lorikeets, the little parrots with colourful plumage in Hagenbeck's animal park in Hamburg.

»Anregungen sammeln«, möchte man spontan antworten.
