We encounter the same Yes Men shortly after the protests in Prague, costumed as "Captain Euro" at a demo against repression and arrests in front of the Czech consulate, but also at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, at art events in Barcelona, Vienna or London - is it all an artistic end in itself or political action? The campaign against the German deportation airline Lufthansa [www.deportation-alliance.com] starts with a poster exhibition ("Deportation Class") that attacks the airline's self-presentation and links it with the theme of deportations. This exhibition tours through German art institutions, while the corporation simultaneously attacks the Internet version of the same pictures with furious legal threats. This, too, is an uninhibited way of dealing with the border between art and politics. It is not the question of which of the two fields a project should be attributed to that is interesting, but rather: Does it work? How does one manage to make a fool of a seemingly over-powerful institution or person and possibly even partially force them to take a defensive position?

Informationsblätter mit einem Fragebogen zur Fußgängerzonennutzung werden verteilt: Wie oft kommen Sie in die Stadt? Wie viel erwarten Sie heute auszugeben? Welche Zahlungsweise bevorzugen Sie? Anhand der Fragebögen wird entschieden, ob das Überqueren des abgesperrten Areals zulässig ist. Die Narration: "Wir führen diese Untersuchung im Auftrag der Firma Bienle durch, die den Ankauf des gesamten Schlossplatzes erwägt. Wir ermitteln in dieser Testanordnung das Nutzerprofil des zu erwerbenden Areals im Hinblick auf Profitabilität." [1] Wichtig ist, dass das Bild stimmt. Die Absperrung ist exakt durchgeführt, die Körpersprache der Security Guards strahlt Kompromisslosigkeit aus, das Firmenpersonal agiert glatt und freundlich, aber bestimmt, die Corporate Identity ist vom Firmenlogo bis zum Outfit der "Angestellten" professionell durchgestylt. Die AktivistInnen adaptieren die Sprache der Macht, die glaubhafte Überidentifikation wird umgesetzt durch genaue und reflektierte Beobachtung, Blick für ästhetische Details und professionellen Umgang mit Materialien.

While the Dunkel Draft may present a new risk to a nation engaging in offensive economic espionage, its potential impact on the activity is uncertain. The GATT is a trade agreement and the Uruguay Round's purpose is to deal with trade issues. The sensitive nature of the subject may make countries reluctant to engage intellectual property provisions to address economic espionage issues. If the international community wished to deal explicitly with the issue of economic espionage, it might be preferable to negotiate a code dealing directly with the subject at the OECD.
