At the request of German politicians, the Amerika Häuser remained after the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949. In the same year, the German-American Women's Club Nürnberg-Fürth e.V. was founded in the GAI. The Club still exists today.

The striking glass-walled stairway in one of the earliest buildings erected in the course of post-war reconstruction in Kassel served as the backbone of Jan Hoet’s exhibition topography. Max Neuhaus filled this central setting with an electronic sound installation that extends through a series of slight modifications over three stories. Each level is assigned its own sustained tone and characterized by a unique timbre. Devoid of visible elements, the “sound work” develops an acoustic structure that unfolds at the outer limit of perceptibility. Because its volume is only slightly higher than that of the ambient noise, the work demands sharpened perception and sensitivity to the acoustic effects. For those who listen closely, the stairway space expands into a meditative spatial experience within a timeless sphere.

After shooting was over, the work process continued into the editing phase: 150 hours of film­­­ material had to be shortened into two hours. We had to portray three and a half years in the lives of three teenage mothers within a timeframe of 90 minutes. In doing this, I was determined never to overstep the fine line between revealing and exposing, which led me to the decision not to integrate one of the teenage mothers into my film. Divulging their faces would have been too serious and too burdensome for both the mother and her child. In the end, the reduction to three stories of development turned out to be a great advantage. The film gained clarity and density.

In 1567, Méliusz gathered the city’s Reformists in a synod in order to clearly define the confessional status of the Church. The synod adopted two antitrinitarian Hungarian confessional writings by Méliusz, the Second Helvetic Confession by Bullinger and the Heidelberg Catechism as its doctrinal basis. A church order was instated to complement the Debrecen order of service and the Debrecen hymn book. This laid the roots for the Reformed Church in Hungary as a viable, enduring organisation. The continuing Ottoman occupation of the Hungarian Plain prevented the influx of the Counter-Reformation into Debrecen and buffered its Reformed Church from the associated threat. Instead, the relatively tolerant religious policy of the Ottoman Empire helped the Reformist faith spread and take hold.

For a long time, Italy was considered an arcadia that really existed, where, as Goethe formulated it, "beautiful nature is paired with antique culture." While during the time of the Grand Tour it was chiefly engravings that spread the canonized repertoire of Italian landscape motifs to northern Europe, these were increasingly replaced by photography in the second half of the 19th century. Yet despite the modern medium, the motifs remained the same: craggy coasts, idyllic folklore with fishermen on the shore. Especially popular was the landscape with ruins, which was both sublime and romantic.

Carl Rottmann painted a cycle of Greek landscapes between 1838 and 1850 that was commissioned by King Ludwig I. The paintings were originally intended to decorate the walls of the northern arcades in the Munich Hofgarten, i.e. outdoors. This necessitated an unusual painting technique on heavy plaster boards supported by reinforced iron frames. Originally, the paintings were to be in encaustic. This painting technique, in which the colours are "melted" into the walls, is based on ancient traditions. It was supposed to be particularly durable and was favoured in Munich at the time.

Estamos, y aun en la era de la Internet, muy lejos de que las escritoras y los escritores lleven ellos mismos sus libros a este estado de mercancía, y al mismo tiempo puedan vivir de lo que hacen. Esta es la situación, por lo menos en los estados occidentales. Y no solo es a causa del capitalismo.

Dopo la lezione del mattino, nel pomeriggio si usciva per una discesa su neve fresca nei dintorni, con il maestro di sci capofila a battere il tracciato. The problems with the two buildings intended for pupils’ accommodation stemmed, to start with, from their ground plan: it was dominated by central corridors extending throughout their entire length and accessed by two staircases each. This spatial configuration, at first sight unfavourably reminiscent of barracks architecture, needed to be broken up. As the individual rooms were too deep, we shortened each of them by means of a short hallway. We then fitted a wet area, a kitchen and a dining area into the space now freed up in the original hallway. In so doing, that enabled us to connect two apartments to one staircase. Because of the façade’s strict rhythm, and in the interest of getting enough light, some of the rooms are configured on a slant. Large apertures were cut into the walls between the new hallways and the kitchens and dining rooms, making it possible to view into the rooms.

Formerly, it was just on or off, either bright or dark everywhere. Today, new possibilities of operation, functionality and energy efficiency are opened up by luminaires which communicate. For example, pleasant islands of light can be created in large office rooms on dark days or mornings and evenings – without energy-intensive “festive illumination” or ominous shadows. The principle is very simple: Schmitz CONNECT combines individual PARO or FACTORY floor lights into groups of lights. When one of these luminaires is switched on via daylight and presence sensors or radio switch, it passes this information on to the neighbouring luminaires. These then also light up.

A la fin de la compétition, seuls 2,7 points d’avance ont permis à l’Américaine, qui a réalisé des sauts de 106 et de 103 mètres, de s’assurer la tête du classement devant Sara Takanashi, la jeune Japonaise de tout juste 16 ans qui a remporté huit des quatorze compétitions de sauts de championnats du monde de cette année, et qui était donnée favorite. C’est l’Autrichienne Jacqueline Seifriedsberger qui s’offre la troisième marche du podium.

L'assemblée de Brigue a tout d'abord tiré le bilan de l'exercice écoulé. En 2010, la branche fromagère suisse a été confrontée à des obstacles, notamment au marasme économique en Europe et au cours de l'euro, très bas, qui s'en est suivi. Malgré tout, le fromage suisse, comme produit de qualité, est parvenu à défendre sa place sur les marchés internationaux, si bien que les exportations ont bouclé sur un résultat positif à la fin de l'année. Au total, 63’619 tonnes de fromage ont été exportées en 2010, soit une augmentation de 1'462 tonnes ( 2.4 % ) par rapport à l'exercice précédent. L'assemblée générale de Switzerland Cheese Marketing SA a pris connaissance de ce résultat avec satisfaction. Les importations ont également notablement augmenté avec un accroissement de 2'791 tonnes ( +6.3 % ). Elles proviennent principalement d'Italie, de France et d'Allemagne. SCM et la branche vont continuer de devoir déployer des activités ciblées de marketing pour contrer cette pression.

Born on June 20, 1930 in Falenty near Warsaw, Magdalena Abakanowicz grew up, like many Polish artists of her generation, in the shadows of and among the aftershocks of WWII. Her younger years were marked by the invasion of the Red Army and communistic repression. Under the burden of socialistic realism she first began to study painting in 1950 at the Academy of Visual Arts in Warsaw. But soon her interest in sculpture was awoken. In the 1960’s she developed the famous "Abakans". These soft giant objects woven from sisal hemp and installed freely in the room, broke with the tradition that, up to then, had used textiles for purely decorative purposes on flat surfaces and brought her international recognition.

Od kilku lat istnieją w naszej branży normy, których przestrzeganie gwarantuje wymaganą jakość usług tłumaczeniowych. Dla usług tłumaczeniowych obowiązywała dotąd norma EN DIN 15038 „Usługi tłumaczeniowe - wymagania". Firma Intertext Fremdsprachendienst e.G. wielokrotnie uzyskiwała certyfikat TÜV Süd według tej normy. Norma EN DIN 15038 została po jej weryfikacji i aktualizacji podniesiona do rangi normy ISO. Były członek zarządu Intertextu, pan Manfred Schmitz, jako „convenor“ odpowiedniej Grupy Roboczej ISO uczestniczył w opracowaniu nowej normy jakościowej dla tłumaczeń (ISO 17100: Translation services – Requirements for translation services), opublikowanej w maju 2015 r. Stosujemy już ją w naszej firmie i zamierzamy uzyskać stosowny certyfikat. Intertext, reprezentowany przez pana Manfreda Schmitza, uczestniczy ponadto w przygotowaniu normy ISO dla „post-editingu“ maszynowo wykonanych tłumaczeń oraz w pracach nad międzynarodowymi normami dla tłumaczeń konferencyjnych, tłumaczeń środowiskowych (community interpreting), tłumaczeń tekstów prawniczych oraz kształtowaniu warunków pracy dla tłumacza konferencyjnego.

The Philosophia condenses to the maximum the ideologically charged variety of knowledge transfer which gained importance under the term of translatio studii. Among many other things, Dürer's sketch concisely describes in four medallions the historical path of the transmission of philosophical subject matter: from the ancient Egyptians, via Greeks and Romans to the Germans, who are represented by the famous polymath Albertus Magnus. Because of his knowledge of alchemy, he was considered to be the inventor of gunpowder. Next to the invention of movable type printing by Johannes Gutenberg, this discovery was viewed to be a revolutionary German contribution to the history of Western culture. This reflects not only political, but also technological linkages to the achievements of antiquity. The artist made the Philosophia for Konrad Celtis, who used it as an illustration in his Quatuor libri amorum (Vier Bücher Liebeselegien, Love Elegies in Four Books). The image is one of the few examples in which the direct influence of a humanist on an elaborate illustrative invention can be verified by the sources.

For his postdoctoral research he changed the field to perform low temperature electronic transport measurements through such SiGe (the elements Silicon and Germanium) semiconductors nanostructures in the group of Silvano De Franceschi at CEA Grenoble; one major result being the realization of the first electronic devices based on this material system. After working as a group leader focusing on the development of new Ge self-assembled nanostructures at the Institute for Integrative Nanosciences, which is part of the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research in Dresden, Katsaros in 2012 joined the Johann-Kepler-University in Linz (Upper Austria) as group leader working on low temperature electronic transport through semiconductor nanostructures at the Institute of Semiconductor and Solid State Physics. Katsaros will move to IST Austria as Assistant Professor in early 2016.

Venki Ramakrishnan is a group leader and Deputy Director at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, and President Elect of the Royal Society. Trained in physics at Baroda University, India, he obtained a PhD in physics from Ohio State University in 1976 before moving into molecular biology. As a Postdoc at Yale University he began to work on ribosomes, his lifelong interest. In 1995, he became Professor in Biochemistry at Utah University. Four years later, he moved to his current position at the MRC. Ramakrishnan studies ribosomes by combining biochemical analysis with structure determination. He elucidated the structure of a small ribosomal subunit and key principles of ribosome function. For his outstanding scientific achievements he was awarded numerous prizes, including the Louis Jeantet Prize for Medicine, 2007, the Sir Hans Krebs Medal, 2012, and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry shared with Tom Steitz and Ada Yonath, 2009. Furthermore, he was awarded a knighthood in 2012.

Il bolzanino Hermann Waldmüller (1869-1927) imparò a Vienna il mestiere di fotografo, stabilendosi poi nuovamente nella sua cittá natale. Acquistò la casa nella Fleischgasse n.50 con il retrostante giardino, costruendovi nel 1896 uno studio fotografico. La >Universal –Salon-Kamera< della ditta Goldmann di Vienna rappresentava il principale articolo di arredamento del nuovo studio fotografico . L'allestimento, composto da vari sfondi dipinti, da tavoli, sedie, balaustre, e la struttura per la camera scura furono ordinati alla ditta Kühle & Miksche di Vienna. Sotto la gestione di  Hermann Waldmüller e del figlio Franz, che ha successivamente preso in mano l'attività, lo studio bolzanino rientrava tra quelli più in vista per foto ritratto di un certo stile. Dopo la morte di quest'ultimo la sorella Anna proseguì l'attività fino al 1986. Per preservare ai postumi l'arredamento di grande pregio storico-culturale, la Provinca di Bolzano ha rilevato nel 1992 l'intera collezione.

Comme l'accord sur la libre circulation des personnes lui en donne la possibilité, le Conseil fédéral a décidé le 18 avril 2012 de réintroduire des contingents d'autorisations à l'égard des ressortissants des Etats de l'UE-8. Cette mesure, qui est entrée en vigueur au 1er mai 2012 et portait sur une année, a été maintenue pour une année supplémentaire à partir du 1er mai 2013. Elle concerne les travailleurs ressortissants de l'UE-8 qui prennent un emploi en Suisse pour une longue durée (un an ou plus).

Il 18 aprile 2012 il Consiglio federale ha deciso di avvalersi della possibilità, prevista ai sensi dell'Accordo sulla libera circolazione delle persone, di sottoporre a contingentamento il numero di permessi di soggiorno concessi ai cittadini dell'UE-8. Questa misura, entrata in vigore il 1° maggio 2012 e valida per un anno, è stata prorogata di un anno a partire dal 1° maggio 2013 e riguarda i cittadini degli Stati dell'UE-8 che assumono un impiego per un periodo di lunga durata (un anno o più).
