A new project in Ljubljana, Domžale and Celje is providing domestic care for families with small children, the elderly and people with disabilities. At the same time, it is creating jobs for hard-to-place unemployed women. Co-financed by the ESF, the SIPA project aims to improve status of women in the labour market and to provide protection for users of such services by reducing the undeclared work in this area. Interest is huge with around 130 women applying – many over 50 years of age, long-term unemployed, seeking their first job, with disabilities or few skills. Currently, some 24 women are employed and a further 26 have completed training, obtained certificates, and are either awaiting placements through companies or setting up as independents. Some 200 people are expected to make use of this valuable service.
