Small scale wooden buildings prevail within the protected historical village center of Immensee. In the periphery of this central core stands a new 6- family house. The urban pattern and density of the new dwelling is adapted to the existing built environment, the building is split in two volumes connected with a common staircase. The gable side of the house is placed towards village square and integrates in an ideal way in the row of new and old houses. There are two distinguished typologies - floor apartments on the typical floors and duplex apartments that expand to the attic floor. The building corpus is clearly defined; there is a low base which bears the upgoing facade and is accentuated by two different red tones. The modernity of these buildings gets underlined through the use of a clear and basic formal language. The staircase volume is made completely out of glass and has therefore a reduced presence.

Die Architektur des in zwei Baukörper gegliederten Neubaus nimmt die topographisch herausfordernde Hanglage auf, die einen Höhenunterschied von 20 Metern verursacht. Beide Gebäudeteile ragen über das südlich in den Hang integrierte Sockelgeschoss hinaus und erzeugen eine spannungsvolle, weithin sichtbare Komposition des Ortes.

The architecture of the new build, which is divided into two structures, follows the challenging topography of the site and its 20-metre height differential. Both structures project from a basement level built into the slope to the south, creating a contrasting ensemble that is visible from some distance.

The campus has a glazed-over atrium that rises over four floors and to which all paths lead. Open staircases permit direct contact and communication with each other. Conscious linking of the pathways underscores the openness of the campus. The seminar rooms are freely grouped around the atrium and extend upwards, to varying heights, into the centre.

James Bond-style jewellery case The new lounge area of the Hamburg-based nightclub Golden Cut borrows ideas from the set design of the James Bond films of the 60s and 70s. Flowing transitions and contours along the room’s outlines result in alcoves and seating ensembles resembling little jewellery cases. The lighting installation in particular, consisting of 120 tubes up to two metres long that suspend from the ceiling, creates a special atmosphere and reflects a highly aesthetic approach to design.

The casting of the concrete foundation slab marked the start of building work at Mannheim Business School in April 2016. The underground extension is supported on base plate extending over the entire area. At the intersection of new and the old, existing walls and foundations were underpinned. The lecture theatres are surrounded by a reinforced concrete framework, with load-bearing outer walls and a flat roof supported on columns. The two cambered lecture theatre ceilings emerge 125cm higher than the 45cm-deep reinforced concrete roof slab. These two domes and the flat roof were reinforced and then cast employing pumped concrete, and the topping-out ceremony in September was attended by 150 guests. The canopy roof above the glazing overlooking the castle garden consists of 15 large-format white concrete cladding panels and the curvature of the roof dictated that each one of these panels had to be specially manufactured. At the intersection of important transportation routes and within the premises of the renown sports center of Basel, stands the proposed Event Hall complex comprising the largest arena (15,000 spectators) and tallest tower of Switzerland. Situated at the edge of Basel, the project serves to suture the historical and physical rifts between neighboring municipalities and reconnect the village to the river. The majority of the program occupies a reconstituted wedge that provides habitat for both flora and fauna. Crystalline volumes of various heights emerge from the verdant plinth providing programmatic diversity. This will be the first “Green” Event Hall in Switzerland.
