L'article 27.38 des ORFC (Déductions administratives - Comptes non publics en souffrance) contient une disposition particulière selon laquelle un cmdt peut ordonner des déductions administratives pour recouvrer les comptes de mess en souffrance. Contrairement aux autres déductions administratives, il n'y a pas de limites au montant qui peut être recouvré (c.-à-d. jusqu'à concurrence du montant exigible) et il n'existe aucune disposition permettant au militaire de s'opposer à la déduction administrative. Toutefois, il peut présenter une demande de redressement de grief33. Une dette à un compte de BNP, tel qu'à un compte en souffrance au mess, représente une dette envers Sa Majesté du chef du Canada et, à ce titre, le militaire peut être contraint au paiement.
