All the collection by Melissa is characterized by an unmistakable fragrance of "marshmallow", that has now become a true trade mark. Nevertheless, the challenges and the projects of the company are not over yet. As a matter of fact, after the success of the production and design innovation, another challenge to face now is sustainability. For Grendene and the brand Melissa, sustainability means a complete recycle of its products, that are mostly mono-material. More than shoes, Melissa are fashion accessories, design articles. The experimental collaborations started during the 80s with Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Patrick Cox, til we arrive at the recent collaborations with Fratelli Campana, Zaha Hadid, Gaetano Pesce, Karim Rashid, and the very last one, with Jason Wu In 2009 the Anglomania brand has been launched: it is the result of the collaboration between Vivienne Westwood and Melissa. Another designer that has been involved by the brand is Gareth Pugh, that has been inspired to his 2011-2012 autumn/winter collection, and has created some plastic ballerinas with geometrical patterns. The most recent one is the pair Wu - Melissa. Jason Wu, a Canadian designer, has proposed two different styles for the 2012 summer season, thanks to two pair of shoes. The “Ultragirl” version has a bow and a flirting logo, while the pump version, “Lady Dragon”, shows some gothic style decorations.
