Jörg Niesenhaus koordiniert die Aktivitäten am Standort in Mülheim an der Ruhr und ist zudem für die Themenbereiche Usability Engineering und Interaktionsdesign zuständig. Als User Experience Manager liegt sein Fokus auf der Evaluation und Konzeption von benutzerfreundlichen Schnittstellen und Interaktionsformen. Dabei bedient er sich auch spielerischer Gestaltungselemente, um beispielsweise die Nutzerzufriedenheit oder Prozesseffizienz zu steigern. Vor seiner Zeit bei Centigrade war Jörg Niesenhaus 11 Jahre lang in der Spieleindustrie bei den Firmen Blue Byte, Similis und Ubisoft tätig. Auch bei seiner Tätigkeit in der Forschungsgruppe Interaktive Systeme und Interaktionsdesign an der Universität Duisburg-Essen setzte er sich mit digitalen Spielen auseinander und beschäftigte sich zudem mit Fragestellungen aus dem Bereich Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion und Usability Engineering.

Le but de la présente étude était 1) de déterminer la nature de l’encrassement des membranes ED (AMX et CMB, de Tokuyama Soda, au Japon) utilisées pour isoler et concentrer le NH3-N total du lisier de porcs, 2) de déterminer l’effet de cet encrassement sur l’intégrité des membranes, 3) d’établir le lien entre le type d’encrassement et la composition du lisier et 4) d’estimer l’efficacité d’une méthode de nettoyage en deux étapes pour rétablir les propriétés des membranes. Après le traitement de 10 lots de lisier de porcs (ou 240 L/m2), la densité de courant moyenne ainsi que la conductivité électrique et la capacité d’échange d’ions des membranes ont diminué. La baisse de la performance de traitement a été attribuée à l’encrassement des membranes, étant donné qu’on a observé un dépôt important, qui pourrait être constitué de carbonate de calcium et de particules colloïdales de silice, sur les membranes AMX encrassées. La conductivité électrique et la capacité d’échange d’ions des membranes CMB ont été complètement rétablies par une méthode de nettoyage en deux étapes utilisant 0,5 % de NaOH et 1 % de HCI. Cependant, la conductivité électrique des membranes AMX n’a été que partiellement rétablie. On a évalué l’efficacité de la méthode de nettoyage en ligne en mesurant la densité de courant moyenne dans l’empilage ainsi que la baisse de conductivité du lisier dans des test d’une durée d’une heure. L’efficacité des membranes nettoyées étaient respectivement égale à 95 % et à 91 % de l’efficacité mesurée avec des membranes neuves, et étaient nettement plus élevée que celle des membranes encrassées.

Biographical Note: M. Cecilia C. Baranauskas is Professor at the Institute of Computing, Unicamp, Brazil. She received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, at UNICAMP, Brazil. Her research interests have focused on issues in human-computer interaction, particularly investigating different formalisms (including Semiotics and Participatory Design) in the design and evaluation of user interfaces. She is leading several projects investigating the use of those formalisms for analyzing, evaluating and designing domain-oriented applications (collaborative learning systems, geographical information systems, systems for work practice). Currently she is the Brazilian Representative at IFIP TC13, member of the BR-CHI (an ACM SIGCHI local chapter) Executive Council and member of the Special Committee for HCI at SBC (Brazilian Computing Society).
