La Suisse a demandé que, dans ses travaux liés aux médias et à la société de l'information, le Conseil de l'Europe se concentre sur ses compétences clé, à savoir les questions liées aux droits de l'Homme. Il essaie ainsi d'éviter d'empiéter sur des domaines traités par d'autres instances à l'intérieur même du Conseil de l'Europe (CdE) ou par l'Union européenne (UE).

OFCOM represented Switzerland at the meetings of the new Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI). It was elected to the Bureau of this Committee, which is committed to advancing issues relating to the governance of public service media, the protection of freedom of expression and information in the new information and communication technologies such as the internet and online media. A representative of OFCOM was elected to the post of Vice-Chairperson of the Committee of Experts on Rights of Internet Users (MSI-DUI), whose goal is to draw up a compendium of the rights of internet users. The Office was also involved in the preparatory work for the first Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for the media and the information society, a conference which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, in October 2013. Switzerland stressed that, in its work in relation to the media and the information society, the Council of Europe focuses on its key competencies, namely human rights issues. In this way it is attempting to avoid encroaching on areas handled by other bodies within the Council of Europe (CoE) or by the European Union (EU).

Das BAKOM vertrat die Schweiz an den Sitzungen des neuen Lenkungsausschusses für die Medien und die Informationsgesellschaft (CDMSI). Es wurde in das Büro dieses Ausschusses gewählt, der sich für den Fortschritt in den Bereichen der Regulierung von Service-Public-Medien und des Schutzes der Informations- und Meinungsfreiheit in den neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien wie Internet und Online-Medien einsetzt. Ein Vertreter des BAKOM wurde zum Vizevorsitzenden der Expertengruppe für die Rechte von Internetnutzern (MSI-DUI) gewählt. Auftrag dieser Gruppe ist, ein Kompendium der Rechte von Internetnutzern zu erarbeiten. Das Amt engagierte sich auch im Rahmen der Vorbereitungsarbeiten für die 1. Konferenz des Europäischen Rates der Minister für Medien und Informationsgesellschaft. Die Konferenz findet im Oktober 2013 in Belgrad, Serbien, statt. Die Schweiz hat hervorgehoben, dass sich der Europarat bei seiner Arbeit im Bereich Medien und Informationsgesellschaft auf seine Kernkompetenzen, d.h. die Fragen der Menschenrechte, konzentriert. Auf diese Weise versucht er, Doppelspurigkeiten mit anderen Instanzen in Europa zu vermeiden.

L'UFCOM ha rappresentato la Svizzera alle riunioni del nuovo Comitato direttivo sui media e la società dell'informazione (CDMSI). È stato eletto in seno all'Ufficio di questo comitato, che s'impegna a favore della governance dei media che offrono il servizio pubblico, della protezione della libertà d'espressione e d'informazione tramite le nuove tecnologie dell'informazione e della comunicazione, quali Internet e i media online. Un rappresentante dell'UFCOM è stato eletto al posto di vicepresidente del Gruppo di esperti sui diritti degli utenti di Internet (MSI-DUI), il cui scopo è quello di elaborare un compendio dei diritti degli utenti di Internet. Il nostro Ufficio ha inoltre partecipato ai lavori preparatori in vista della prima Conferenza del Consiglio d'Europa dei Ministri responsabili dei media e dei nuovi servizi d'informazione, un incontro che si terrà a Belgrado (Serbia) nell'ottobre 2013. La Svizzera ha sottolineato che, nei suoi lavori legati ai media e alla Società dell'informazione, il Consiglio d'Europa si concentra sulle sue competenze chiave, ossia le questioni dei diritti dell'Uomo. Cerca così di evitare di sconfinare nei settori trattati da altre istanze all'interno dello stesso Consiglio d'Europa (CdE) o dell'Unione europea (UE).
