Mr Burkhalter underscored his desire for close cooperation between the Council of Europe and the OSCE during Switzerland's OSCE Chairmanship next year. Among the issues discussed by Ms Sommaruga with Mr Jagland were the reform of the European Court of Human Rights and the EU's accession to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

Le conseiller fédéral Didier Burkhalter a souligné à cette occasion qu’il souhaitait resserrer la coopération entre le Conseil de l’Europe et l’OSCE pendant la présidence suisse de l’OSCE, l’année prochaine. Lors de son entretien avec le secrétaire général Thorbjørn Jagland, la conseillère fédérale Simonetta Sommaruga a notamment évoqué la réforme de la Cour européenne des droits de l’homme et l’adhésion de l’UE à la Convention européenne des droits de l’homme (CEDH).

Bundesrat Burkhalter unterstrich dabei seinen Wunsch nach einer engen Kooperation zwischen Europarat und OSZE während des schweizerischen OSZE-Vorsitzes im kommenden Jahr. Bundesrätin Sommaruga sprach mit Generalsekretär Jagland unter anderem über die Reform des Europäischen Gerichtshofs für Menschenrechte und den Beitritt der EU zur Europäischen Menschenrechtskonvention (EMRK).
