Beider Redner betonten, dass das Konzept der «Foreign Direct Investments» kein nachhaltiges Entwicklungsmodell konstituieren kann und das die Staaten der europäischen Peripherie damit niemals das Bruttoinlandsprodukt der entwickelten Ökonomien erreichen werden – auch wenn das BIP nicht als abschließender Indikator für wirtschaftliche Entwicklung und Lebensstandard gelesen werden kann. Auf der anderen Seite bemerkte Stefanie Hürtgen von der Universität Salzburg, dass Forschung und politische Analyse auch auf die internationalen Produktionsketten gelenkt werden müsse. In einem zweiten Schritt wird die Forschung die Rolle der konkurrierenden Vorgehensweisen in den Übergangswirtschaften zum Schwerpunkt haben. Konkurrenz wird als wichtige Komponente im post-sozialistischen Übergang angesehen, als auch als Integrationsprozess. Das Ziel der Forschungsarbeiten ist die Analyse der zentralen Prinzipien der konkurrierenden Verfahrensweisen in den erwähnten Ländern und die Rolle des Wettbewerbs und der direkten ausländischen Investitionen (FDI ) in der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung dieser Länder heraus zu finden.

Secondo la National Bank of Poland, gli investimenti diretti esteri hanno raggiunto alla fine del 2014 la quota di 171,7 miliardi di euro. I capitali stranieri investiti nel Paese provengono da 125 nazioni differenti, ma i primi investitori sono l’Olanda con 29,6 miliardi, la Germania con 28 miliardi e il Lussemburgo con 20,4 miliardi.
