I cannot imagine how people lived before the invention of the computer, I am convinced that I was born in the right century! My name is Daniel Griza, I am sixteen years old and Edelweiss Foundation’s ambassador. This year I have got the maximum score and the first place at Republican Computer Science Olympiad. I have also brought home several gold and silver medals from national and international competitions. But I am very proud of the medal won at Clock Tower School Romania 2012 contest, where I competed with dedicated IT teams from countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Bulgaria, Romania, which are much more developed in training for Olympics in IT.

Ţin însă foarte mult la o medalie câştigată la concursul Clock Tower School Romania 2012, unde am concurat cu echipe consacrate în IT din ţări precum Indonezia, Filipine, Bulgaria, România, care au un nivel mult mai dezvoltat în pregătirea olimpicilor în domeniul IT.

It was also agreed to recommend that the OAS Permanent Missions designate a point of contact for science and technology issues within their Missions and, if possible, a backup for when the first contact is not available. Finally, the Committee agreed that the information on these contacts (institutions or people) should be sent, as soon as possible, to the Technical Secretariat of COMCYT at the OAS Office of Science and Technology, so that these lists could be drawn up and published on a web page. Chornii as a problem of gravity potential renovation by the values of modulus of its gradients given on Liapunov's boundary. The problem's analytical properties are considered. Its solution as a simple layer potential consists of the sequence of solutions of external boundary Neumann's problems for Laplace's equation provided that the solution does not greatly deviate from the given one. Pierino Forni (1919-2005) is a “villese”, who has made Ticinese and Luganese football great. He started out his career in FC Lugano, when still very young and during the 1940-1941 season won the LNA Swiss Championship. In the course of the 1942-43 season, he participated in the Swiss Cup final against the Grasshoppers (lost two goals to one), a final that was played at Bern’s Wankdorf stadium in front of 18'000 spectators. Forni ended his career as forward some seasons later, wearing the Chiasso jersey.

To facilitate the exchange of information between the political body and the science and technology authorities and to establish clear communication channels, COMCYT agreed to recommend that all member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) designate, through their National Liaison Organ (ONE), a National Organ on Science and Technology (ONCYT), whenever possible, which will be the institution or person that will represent that member state at COMCYT meetings. It was also agreed to recommend that the OAS Permanent Missions designate a point of contact for science and technology issues within their Missions and, if possible, a backup for when the first contact is not available. Finally, the Committee agreed that the information on these contacts (institutions or people) should be sent, as soon as possible, to the Technical Secretariat of COMCYT at the OAS Office of Science and Technology, so that these lists could be drawn up and published on a web page. If possible, all points of contact should provide e-mail addresses (several if possible) to facilitate the communication flow.

In May 1985, a tunnel was opened connecting Spirit Lake and South Coldwater Creek in order to lower the lake level and to prevent flooding downriver. I had great fun taking the photos for this panorama: I managed to set up the tripod one a huge, floating log which, fortunately did not roll over.

Tronchi e rami, scaraventati nello Spirit Lake dall'esplosione del 1980, sono ancora a galla, perlopiù com'erano giusto dopo l'eruzione. Nel Maggio 1985, è stato aperto un tunnel di connessione tra Spirit Lake e South Coldwater Creek allo scopo di abbassare il livello del lago e prevenire inondazioni. Mi sono divertito un sacco a scattare le foto per questo panorama: mi sono ingegnato a posizionare il treppiede su un enorme tronco galleggiante che, fortunatamente, non si è messo a rollare. Not very gently he was pushed down the worn-out steps into the moist dungeon. He was tied up in rusty chains that cut into his wrists and so he stumbled and crashed against the wet wall that was losing its plaster and where mold had formed. The other was tall and strong and hit his callous palms with the shaft of a whip. He grinned viciously and a mouth with gaps and yellow teeth appeared. "Go on!" he barked in a thunderous voice and pushed the shaft of the whip into the prisoner's back so that he stumbled and fell again. This time a massive door made of oak stopped the fall. Almost unconscious he stayed down and stared at cob webs. Something hurried across his hand with a squeal. Then the tall one put him on his feet and the dwarf opened the door. Immediately, stinking, stale air hit his nose. He wondered what was expecting him behind this door, way below ground. If only he could climb up the stairs again towards the light. Did he have to go down into this endless dungeon that held him prisoner. He didn't even remember anything before. "Light! Only light!". He moved along the stony floor. The dwarf put the torch into a holder and a rectangular room with an arched ceiling from which water was dripping, was illuminated. Various devices and tools were arranged along the walls and hung from the ceiling. In the center there was some sort of bed with curious features. The floor was slightly tilted towards the center so that any kind of liquids would flow there and disappear in a gutter.

Mit schweren, widerhallenden Schritten kamen seine beiden Wächter hinter ihm herab. Der eine, ein kleiner Wicht mit grobem Gesicht, trug eine Fackel, die sein abstossendes Gebilde aus Augen, Nase, Mund und Stirn in einem bleichen Licht erschienen liess. Der zweite war gross und muskulös und schlug sich mit dem Stiel einer Peitsche auf die schwielige Händefläche. Er grinste hämisch und Mund mit Lücken und einigen gelben Zähnen kam zum Vorschein. "Geh schon!" donnerte er und stiess ihn mit dem Peitschenstiel in den Rücken, dass er ein weiteres Mal fiel. Diesmal stoppte einige massive Eichentür den Fall. Benommen blieb er liegen und starrte in ein staubverhangenes Spinnennetz. Etwa huschte piepsend über seine Hand. Dann stellte der Grosse ihn auf die Füsse und der Zwerg öffnete die knarrende Tür. Sofort ging ihm stinkende, abgestandene Luft in die Nase. Er fragte sich, was ihn hinter dieser Tür erwarten würde, weit unter der Erde. Könnte er doch noch einmal die Treppe nach oben steigen, wo es hell sein würde. Musste er denn diesen unendlichen Weg in dieses Gewölbe gehen, in dem er sich verfangen hatte. Er wusste nicht einmal mehr, was vorher war. "Licht! Nur Licht!". Er bewegte sich auf steinernem Boden. Der Zwerg steckte die Fackel in eine Halterung und ein rechteckiger Raum mit gewölbter Decke, von der Wasser tropfte, wurde ausgeleuchtet. Verschiedene Geräte und Werkzeuge waren an die Wand gestellt und aufgehängt. In der Mitte stand eine Art Liege aus Holz mit seltsamen Vorrichtungen dran. Der Boden war zur Mitte leicht gesenkt, so dass irgendwelche Flüssigkeiten wohl in die Mitte fliessen und in einem Ablaufrohr verschwinden würden.

A post-vacation vacation is probably what many people feel that they need when they realize how much has to be done once they're back to normality at home. It may well have been a fun-filled vacation with new memories to keep but getting back on track is hard work on its own. At least, that’s how it is for me. I also feel this way after every weekend. Monday mornings are the hardest because I am always thinking about the hectic schedule I have lined up for the week. I look at my watch and realize I'm running late for work, and have to jump out of bed to get ready as quickly as I can. On my way out, I check the time again, grab my briefcase and get right into the day with a quick stop at the coffee shop downstairs for a take-out doughnut to eat en route to work. The thought of how I'd managed to completely lose track of time during the past two weeks away is bittersweet. Living off the clock without having to think about much of anything was amazing, but I am glad to be back on the go and getting life done, with my watch keeping me on time for the meetings and social gatherings I had planned for the week.

Des vacances après les vacances : c’est probablement ce à quoi nous rêvons tous lorsque nous réalisons la quantité de choses que nous avons à faire en retrouvant notre quotidien. Bien sûr, ces vacances auront peut-être été incroyables et riches en souvenirs, mais se remettre sur les rails est une véritable épreuve. Du moins, c’en est une pour moi. J’ai également ce sentiment après chaque week-end, car affronter le lundi matin est ce qu’il y a de plus pénible quand je pense à l’emploi du temps chargé qui m’attend pour la semaine. Je regarde ma montre et je réalise que je suis en retard pour aller travailler, je saute hors du lit pour me préparer aussi vite que possible. En partant, je vérifie l’heure à nouveau, j’attrape ma mallette et je commence ma journée en m’arrêtant rapidement pour acheter un croissant au café d’en bas. Je le mangerai pendant le trajet. J’ai un pincement au cœur en pensant à la façon dont j’ai réussi à perdre toute notion du temps pendant mes deux semaines de vacances. Ne plus avoir à regarder l’heure ni à réfléchir à quoi que ce soit était délicieux, mais j’étais ravi de me remettre dans le mouvement et de pouvoir compter sur ma montre pour être à l’heure aux réunions et aux sorties notées dans mon agenda de la semaine.

De vuelta a la normalidad y al encontrarse con una gran cantidad de quehaceres, es probable que la mayoría de gente piense que debería extender sus vacaciones. Sin duda habrán sido unas divertidas vacaciones llenas de nuevos recuerdos, pero volver a la normalidad ya es difícil de por si. O, al menos, ese es mi caso. También me siento así tras algunos fines de semana. Los lunes por la mañana son especialmente duros, pues me pongo a pensar en la ajetreada agenda que he organizado para esa semana. Miro el reloj y me doy cuenta de que llego tarde al trabajo. Pego un salto de la cama y me preparo tan rápido como puedo. De camino al trabajo, vuelvo a mirar el reloj, cojo el maletín y comienzo el día con una breve parada en la cafetería, donde compro un dónut para comer por el camino. Guardo el agridulce recuerdo de cómo perdía la noción del tiempo durante mis dos semanas de vacaciones. Vivir al margen del reloj, sin pensar en nada, fue maravilloso; pero me alegro de volver a estar en movimiento, organizar mi día a día y, con ayuda de mi reloj, llegar a tiempo a las reuniones y eventos sociales que he planeado en mi agenda semanal.

В фламенко-джазе (программа «в среду вечером в Иерусалиме», параллель со знаменитым «В пятницу вечером в Сан-Франциско» очевидна – в Иерусалиме в пятницу вечером не играют…) с ними выступал уникальный перкуссионист Моше Янковский, в «джипси-свинге», посвященном великому Джанго, к трио добавились Валерий Липец и Дмитрий Шурин. На сцене был яркий и неудержимый коллектив виртуозов-единомышленников. Собственно, так можно охарактеризовать всех участников Третьего фестиваля «Джаз-глобус», который завершился фри-блюзом, исполненным «Альянсом» на бис в бешеном темпе с бешеным темпераментом. Слава Ганелин сказал: «Мы так завелись, что могли играть до утра! Но надо было заканчивать фестиваль. Продолжим через год…».
