Two years after the inquiry report on the Israeli attack on Gaza was published its author Richard Goldstone has retracted his statements on Israeli war crimes committed against Palestinian civilians. The Palestinian Hikmat Ajjuri writes that he is not surprised in the liberal daily The Irish Times: "The Goldstone report called upon the Israeli and Palestinian authorities to conduct credible, independent investigations into alleged war crimes and possible crimes against humanity within six months or face referral to the International Criminal Court (ICC) by the UN Security Council. More than two years after its assault on Gaza, Israel has failed to conduct credible, independent investigations into its actions. This doesn't come as a surprise to us, the Palestinians: we have long experience of Israel's failure to investigate the brutal actions of its armed forces against us. ...If there are to be credible, independent investigations, they will have to be carried out by the ICC."

Deux ans après la publication du rapport d'enquête relatif à l'attaque israélienne sur Gaza, son auteur Richard Goldstone a récemment retiré ses déclarations sur les crimes de guerre israéliens à l'encontre des civils palestiniens. Pas surprenant, écrit le Palestinien Hikmat Ajjuri dans le quotidien libéral The Irish Times : "Le rapport Goldstone appelait les autorités israéliennes et palestiniennes à mener dans les six mois une enquête crédible et indépendante sur les crimes de guerre présumés et les possibles crimes contre l'humanité, faute de quoi elles seraient renvoyés devant la Cour pénale internationale (ICC) par le Conseil de sécurité de l'ONU. Deux ans après son attaque sur Gaza, Israël n'a toujours pas mené d'enquête crédible et indépendante sur ses actions. Pour nous Palestiniens, ce n'est pas une surprise : nous avons l'habitude qu'Israël n'enquête pas sur les actions violentes de son armée à notre encontre. … S'il doit y avoir une enquête crédible et indépendante, elle doit être menée par l'ICC."

Zwei Jahre nach dem Untersuchungsbericht zum israelischen Angriff auf Gaza hat der Verfasser Richard Goldstone jüngst seine Aussage über israelische Kriegsverbrechen an palästinensischen Zivilisten zurückgenommen. Den Palästinenser Hikmat Ajjuri überrascht das nicht, wie er in der liberalen Tageszeitung The Irish Times schreibt: "Der Goldstone-Bericht forderte von den israelischen und palästinensischen Behörden, binnen sechs Monaten glaubwürdige, unabhängige Untersuchungen zu mutmaßlichen Kriegsverbrechen und möglichen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit durchzuführen. Andernfalls würden sie vom UN-Sicherheitsrat an den Internationalen Strafgerichtshof (ICC) übergeben. Mehr als zwei Jahre nach seinem Anschlag auf Gaza hat Israel immer noch keine glaubwürdigen, unabhängigen Untersuchungen zu seinen Handlungen durchgeführt. Das ist für uns Palästinenser keine Überraschung: Wir haben langjährige Erfahrung mit Israels Versagen, die brutalen Aktionen seiner Armee gegen uns zu untersuchen. ... Wenn es eine glaubwürdige, unabhängige Untersuchung geben soll, dann muss sie vom ICC durchgeführt werden."
