No ofrece ningún indicio sobre lo que la enfermedad representa, a no ser que seas un médico, e incluso así, puedes no haber oido nunca esta enfermedad, solo recientemente descubierta por el Dr. J. Dalmau, en el año 2007.

I used to HATE the words Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis (ANMDAre)! The name, similar to the disease it represents, is complicated and mysterious. It offers no insight to what the disease entails, unless you are a physician and, even then, you may not have ever heard of this illness, only recently identified in 2007, by Dr. J. Dalmau. Unlike Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (better known as ALS), Cystic Fibrosis or Muscular Dystrophy, it is not a household name. I would obsessively repeat this name in my head over and over, determined to make it known, to make it mean something, to make it memorable for those that have not had the misfortune to become intimately acquainted with this cruel, unpredictable, multi-faceted master of masquerade. I witnessed my daughter become a victim of this devastating disease in 2008 and just when we thought she would recover from it for good, it would strike again… and again and again; altogether five times within a span of four years.

He odiat les paralules encefalitis per anticossos contra els receptors NMDA. El nom, així com la malaltia a la que defineix, és misteriós i difícil. No t'assenyala cap indici del que la malaltia representa, a no ser que siguis un metge i tot i així, pots no haver sentir parlar mai de la mateixa, acabada de descobrir al 2007 pel Dr. J. Dalmau. Al contrari que Càncer, Esclerosi Múltiple, Esclerosi Lateral Amiotròfica, Fibrosi Quística o Distròfia Muscular, no és un nom corrent. He repetit aquest nom d'una forma obsessiva al meu cap els últims anys, amb la determinació de donar-lo a conèixer, de fer que signifiqués alguna cosa, que es fes recordable per aquells que no han tingut l'infortuni d'estar íntimament familiaritzats amb aquest cruel malaltia, impredible, reina de les mil cares. He vist com la meva filla va ser víctima d'aquesta terrible malaltia l'any 2008 i, tot just quan pensava que es recuperava, com la tornava a patir fins un total de cinc vegades en l'espai de quatre anys.
