Lopud island belongs to the group of 9 islands known as Elaphite Islands. This island is the second largest with an area of 4.63 km². It is located between the islands of Šipan and Koločep, which are along with Lopud the only inhabited islands of Elaphites. There is only one settlement on Loud, bearing the same name- Lopud, situated in a beautiful cove on the west side of the island. There is a path leading from the cove to the opposite side of the island, on the southeast side, to the Šunj beach, which attracts many tourists and is one of the best known here. Lopud island, as well as the settlement, have a very favorable climate and rich Mediterranean vegetation of cypress, pine and palm trees, laurel, olive and lemon trees. In terms of tourism it is the most developed of all the Elaphites. Administratively, the island (as well as other islands of the Elaphites) belongs to Dubrovnik, which is only 5 nautical miles to the west and connected by ferry. Small number of inhabitants grow olives, grapes and work in tourism. Besides the newly renovated hotel in Lopud, you can find accommodation in one of the private apartments or rooms. This island is recommended for families with children and most surely couples, who wish to enjoy the romantic moments of an unforgettable holiday. In the past, Lopud was more inhabited than today, what can be seen from the written records from the 16th century, indicating that there were two monasteries, 30 churches, several palaces and villas. Today there are few remains left. In one of the villas from the 19th century you can see several types of palm trees, bamboo and various types of cacti that were collected throughout the world.

L’île de Lopud est l’un des 9 îles d’Elafiti. Elle est la deuxième île la plus grande de ce groupe (superficie : 4,63 km²). Elle est situé entre les îles de Sipan et de Kolocep et ces trois îles sont les seules habitées. Le village de Lopud est situé dans une crique magnifique à l’ouest de l’île de Lopud. Il y a un chemin qui mène de cette crique jusqu’au sud de l'île, où se trouve la plage de sable la plus populaire auprès des touristes, la plage de Sunj. L’île de Lopud et le village de Lopud jouissent d’un climat très doux. L’île est riche en végétation méditerranéenne (cyprès, pins, palmiers, lauriers, oliviers, citronniers). Quant au tourisme, l’île de Lopud est la plus développée des îles d’Elafiti. Administrativement, cette île (ainsi que toutes les îles d’Elafiti) appartient à Dubrovnik, qui se trouve à seulement 5 miles marins à l'ouest, et ils sont reliés par les lignes de ferry. Les gens locaux s’occupent de l’oléiculture, de la viticulture et de plus en plus du tourisme. L'isola di Lopud appartiene a un gruppo di 9 isole conosciute come le isole Elafiti. È la seconda isola più grande la cui superficie è di 4,63 km2. Si trova tra le isole di Šipan e Koločep che, insieme a Lopud, sono le uniche isole abitate degli Elefiti. A Lopud si trova anche l'unico insediamento dell'isola, che porta lo stesso nome - Lopud, situato in una splendida baia sul lato occidentale dell'isola. Da questa baia un percorso porta verso il lato opposto dell'isola, nella parte sud-est, dove si trova la più famosa e più gettonata spiaggia sabbiosa di Šunj. L’isola e il posto di Lopud vantano un clima molto favorevole e una ricca vegetazione mediterranea, con cipressi, pini, palme, allori, ulivi e limoni, e in termini di turismo è la più sviluppata di tutte le isole Elafiti. Dal punto di vista dell’amministrazione, l'isola (così come tutti gli altri nel gruppo di isole Elafiti) appartiene a Dubrovnik, dal quale è distante solo 5 miglia nautiche nella direzione dell’ovest, e con il quale è collegata con il traghetto. Pocchissimi nabitanti si occupano dell’allevamento delle olive, d’uva, e sempre di più di turismo. Oltre all’hotel recettemente ristrutturato, a Lopud potete trovare la vostra sistemazione in uno degli appartamenti o camere. Raccomandiamo quest’isola alle famiglie con i bambini e sicuramente alle le coppie che potranno godere i momenti romantici della loro vacanza indimenticabile. Nel passato, Lopud era molto più abitata che oggi, e nel 16° secolo le scritte indicano che sull'isola vi erano due monasteri, 30 chiese, diversi palazzi e ville dai quali oggi si può vedere solo una parte molto piccola. Nel giardino, ovvero nel parco di una delle ville del 19° secolo, si possono vedere diverse specie di palme, bambù, e di vari tipi di cactus che furono raccolti da tutto il mondo.

Het is gelegen tussen de eilanden Sipan en Kolocep die, samen met Lopud de enige bewoonde eilanden van de Elefita eilanden zijn. Op Lopud is ook de enige nederzetting van het eiland, en met dezelfde naam - Lopud, gelegen in een prachtige baai aan de westkant van het eiland. Uit deze baai is een pad naar de andere kant van het eiland, aan de zuidkant, waar sprake is van de meest bekende en door veel toeristen bezochte Šunj zandstrand. Lopud eiland n heeft een zeer gunstige klimaat en de rijke mediterrane vegetatie, cipressen en pijnbomen en palmbomen, laurier, olijf-en citroenbomen, en in termen van het toerisme is het meest ontwikkeld van alle eilanden Elafit.
