Walter Bachmann a grandi à Wil (SG). En 1989, il obtient une licence de droit à la HSG, avec spécialisation en droit des médias. En 2002, il décroche le diplôme postgrade de contrôleur à l’Institut de Management de St-Gall (SGMI).

Walter Bachmann grew up in Wil (Canton St. Gallen) in Eastern Switzerland. In 1989, he graduated from HSG in St. Gallen with a degree in law, having majored in media law. In 2002, he completed a postgraduate financial controlling course at the SGMI Management Institute in St. Gallen. Walter Bachmann worked as an editor and producer at the local Wil television station from 1980 to 1989, before then joining Schweizer Fernsehen. Here, he was Head of Fees and Licences/Sponsorship up to 1994, then spent five years as Staff Coordinator at Drama and Entertainment, before moving in 1999 to become Head of Programming Services and Staff Coordinator Programming Director/Programming Services, where he remained until 2005. He most recently served as Head of the Multimedia Centre and Head of Marketing and Partnerships.

Walter Bachmann wuchs in Wil (SG) auf. 1989 schloss er in St. Gallen an der HSG das Studium der Rechtswissenschaften mit Vertiefung in Medienrecht ab. 2002 beendete er am SGMI Management Institut St. Gallen das Nachdiplomstudium als Controller. Von 1980 bis 1989 arbeitete Walter Bachmann als Redaktor und Produzent beim Lokalfernsehen Wil. 1989 wechselte er zum Schweizer Fernsehen. Dort war er bis 1994 Leiter Honorare und Lizenzen/Sponsoring, bis 1999 Stabschef Fiktion und Unterhaltung, bis 2005 Leiter Programmservices und Stabschef Programmdirektor/Programmdienste und zuletzt Leiter Multimediazentrum sowie Leiter Vermarktung und Partnerschaften.

Nato e cresciuto nella Svizzera orientale a Wil (SG), nel 1989 Walter Bachmann consegue la licenza di giurista alla HSG di San Gallo con specializzazione nel diritto dei media. Nel 2002 porta a termine il master di controller presso l’istituto di management di San Gallo (SGMI). Dal 1980 al 1989 Walter Bachmann lavora come redattore e produttore per la televisione locale di Wil. Nel 1989 entra a Schweizer Fernsehen, dove sarà successivamente responsabile Onorari e Licenze/Sponsoring (fino al 1994), responsabile Fiction e Intrattenimento (fino al 1999), responsabile dei servizi di programma e capo dello staff del direttore dei programmi (fino al 2005) e, da ultimo, responsabile del «Multimediazentrum» e dell’ufficio Commercializzazione e Partnership.
