Il nome deriva dalla denominazione di "Monti Parioli", data a un gruppo di colline tufacee prima dell'urbanizzazione dell'area, avvenuta agli inizi del Novecento. Alcuni affermano che il nome derivi da peraioli, per le coltivazioni di peri che vi si trovavano.
