Be advised that most frequent pubs in the Temple Bar are so packed during the weekends that waiting 30 minutes to an hour for the table is nothing unusual, so don’t come to a pub starving and then nervously waiting for the table.

One of the waiters brought one big paella and started serving it on two plates, and since his hands were “full” he showed without words in very aggressive way to Dina, waving his hand in manner “move that plate, can’t you see I’m serving you a second dish”.

Don’t get fooled by this photo. It’s one of rare moments when this square is empty, as it is a good old Croatian tradition to enjoy the coffee and deserts outside on the fresh air, and talk for hours. Just a day earlier we waited 20 minutes for a free table, and almost 30 minutes to get our deserts for home. Yes, on this square you can eat the most advertised must try thing from Samobor – Samoborska kremšnita, or cream pie from Samobor.

According to my experience and material available on the Internet, there are some rules that you should know if you are visiting Dublin, and you did not experience proper Irish or British pub so far. One of the biggest differences is how beer is ordered. If you just sit and wait for a drink, like you would do in Croatia, you could grow gray hairs there.

Irish (and British) pubs are organized in a bit different way. You can get food in many pubs, and if you sit down that means you will order some food. If you sit and try to order drink you could be asked to go to the bar on your own. You could be served, but in most cases if you are in for a drink only, you should go to the bar, order your beer, pay it right there and then walk around, sit and drink. In case that you are alone or searching for a drinking partner, just stay on the bar. Within few minutes you will be chatting with a random person. Don’t get too enthusiastic that this is because you are special.

I tu se dogodilo naše prvo, i na kraju jedino veće razočaranje uz skupu večeru.
Our first, and in the end – only disappointment and expensive dinner happened here that evening. We got a traditional table in separated area and everything looked cool in the beginning. Then, we first got a menu only in Japanese, then we waited 10 minutes for an English one, and when we finally ordered our food, we waited for more than an hour. Dina then got up and went to check what is going on, and it seemed that they completely forgot us. When food finally arrived it was the biggest disappointment ever. I’ve ordered the most expensive thing from the menu that said “chef’s special” and all I got were three grilled chicken skewers. Which were dry, hard and without any sauce, salad, side dish or anything. When I say “most expensive”, it was not a first class elite restaurant, but when you pay three times more than in all other places and you need to go somewhere for a proper dinner, that’s a problem.
