Dywedodd Catrin, sy'n hanu o dde Eryri: "Cafodd cerddoriaeth werin Cymru ei hanwybyddu cyhyd, gyda hyd yn oed gerddorion Celtaidd adnabyddus heb fod yn gwybod amdani mewn gwirionedd. Mae llawer o bobl yn credu mai emynau neu gorau meibion yw ein canu gwerin - mae hyn mor bell o fod yn wir.
Catrin, originally from southern Snowdonia ,says :- "Welsh folk music has been overlooked for so long, even well-known Celtic musicians not really being aware of its existence. Many people think that our folk music consists of hymns or male voice choirs – so far from the reality. The true folk music of Wales can be compared to the carefree passion of Irish, or the beauty of Breton music, but with it bringing harmonies and a poetic tradition to rival that of anywhere in the world. I think it would be very mean of us not to share it! Joining Allan Yn Y Fan means I get to be part of a band who really subscribe to that generosity of spirit and put the miles in to take our music to new countries, concert halls and festivals – I can’t wait to get on the road!"

Bydd y rhain yn targedu ysgolion cynradd yn bennaf ac yn tynnu sylw at berthynas arbennig Paul Robeson â Chymru a'i cherddoriaeth. Daeth Paul Robeson, oedd yn Americanwr Affricanaidd, i Dde Cymru sawl tro rhwng 1929 a 1939, gan ganu mewn nifer o drefi, gan gynnwys Abertawe, Castell-nedd a Chaerdydd.
An additional highlight of this year’s programme will be Paul Robeson’s schools’ Legacy for Wales Workshops which will primarily target primary schools from around Wales and highlight the very special relationship Paul Robeson had with Wales and its music. An African American, Paul Robeson made regular visits to South Wales between 1929 and 1939, singing in numerous towns including Swansea, Neath and Cardiff. Refused his right to travel outside America in the 1950s, he sang with the South Wales Miners via a transatlantic telephone cable as part of the now famous 1957 Wales Transatlantic Concert, demonstrating the phenomenal power of music to bring people together regardless of cultural background. Paul Robeson’s musical legacy to Wales will be highlighted through voice workshops, performances and creative art inspired around the ‘Let Robeson Sing’ exhibition.

Yn hyn o beth, mae’n rhannu llawer o nodweddion yr hen fesur caeth mewn barddoniaeth, sef y Gynghanedd sy’n unigryw i Gymru, a’n Hen Benillion. Ymledodd y Ghazal i Dde Asia yn y 12fed ganrif o ganlyniad i ddylanwad cyfrinwyr Sufi a llysoedd y Swltaniaeth Islamaidd newydd.
The Ghazal is a poetic form consisting of rhyming couplets and a refrain, with each line sharing the same meter. Traditionally, the form is used as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain. The form is ancient, originating in 6th-century Arabic verse. In this way, it shares much with the ancient, tight-metered form of poetry, Cynghanedd unique to Wales, and our Hen Benillion. The Ghazal spread into South Asia in the 12th century due to the influence of Sufi mystics and the courts of the new Islamic Sultanate. Today it is found in the poetry of many languages of the Indian sub-continent.
