Er wollte für die Schriften von Thomas von Aquin eine Konkordanz machen. Das ist ein Index sämtlicher Wörter, die in einem Werk vorkommen, plus deren Kontext. Busa schaffte es, den Chef von IBM zu überzeugen, ihn bei diesem Unternehmen zu unterstützen. Dieses erste Digital-Humanities-Projekt dauerte 30 Jahre.
