CHEP is working on developing a system that defines national requirements for things such as farmer training and certification, auditor training, and program record-keeping. This system will ensure that the program is being delivered consistently and effectively across the country, and will adhere to the requirements laid out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) On-Farm Food Safety Recognition Program. CHEQT is consistent with the food safety approach developed by the CFIA and complements other food safety initiatives developed for processors, feed mills, hatcheries and chicken farmers.

Les POIC sont un chef de file en matière d'initiatives de salubrité des aliments et ont mis en ouvre le Programme canadien de qualité des oufs d'incubation (PCQOIMD) qui repose sur les principes internationaux du HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point ou analyse des risques et maîtrise des points critiques) et est conforme à l'approche de salubrité des aliments de l'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments (ACIA).

CHEP is a leader in food safety initiatives and has implemented the Canadian Hatching Egg Quality Program (CHEQT). This program is based on international hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) principles and is consistent with the food safety approach developed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). CHEQT provides producers with a comprehensive set of Good Production Practices that each farmer is committed to follow and is a major component of the Canadian poultry industry’s "gate to plate" strategy. It complements other food safety initiatives within the chicken industry developed by the feed mills, hatcheries, chicken farmers and processors.
