Las autoridades de la ciudad de Derry y Donegal establecieron en 1990 la Agrupación Europea de Interés Económico (AEIE) ERNACT como órgano subsidiario conjunto transfronterizo. Su propósito era permitir la cooperación de ambos condados en el tema de la tecnología de las comunicaciones y el concepto entonces novedoso de la sociedad de la información.

Derry City and Donegal County Councils established ERNACT EEIG (European Economic Interest Grouping) in 1990 as a joint crossborder subsidiary in order to enable both council areas to co-operate on the theme of communications technology and the emerging information society. Since then ERNACT has evolved into a network of regions in Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

La ville de Derry et le comté de Donegal ont mise en place l'ERNACT EEIG (Groupement d'intérêt économique européen) en 1990 en tant que filiale conjointe transfrontalière afin de permettre à leurs conseils respectifs de coopérer sur les thèmes de la technologie des communications et de la société émergente de l'information . L'ERNACT s'est développé en un réseau de régions en Belgique, au Danemark, en Irlande, aux Pays-Bas et au Royaume-Uni.

Die Räte von Derry City und der Grafschaft Donegal haben 1990 ERNACT EEIG (European Region Network for the Application of Communication Technology — European Economic Interest Grouping) als grenzübergreifende Organisation eingerichtet, um beiden Gebieten zu ermöglichen, im Bereich der Kommunikationstechnologie und der aufkommenden Informationsgesellschaft zusammenzuarbeiten. Seitdem hat sich ERNACT zu einem Netzwerk von Regionen in Belgien, Dänemark, Irland, den Niederlanden und dem Vereinigten Königreich entwickelt.
