I believe that the National Energy Board will be moving extensively in the direction of new energy trends, for example, energy efficiency, which is an increasingly important issue. Its various aspects will require greater consideration in the Board's decisions, particularly when it comes to the public interest. There is much to be done in the future to develop the Board's expertise in the area of public consultation, such as what is done by the various provincial tribunals to foster transparency and public participation in their decision-making process. The Board will have to improve transparency and accessibility to its information.
