Aquests àcids grassos es troben a les verdures, els fruits secs i els cereals, però procedeixen principalment del consum alimentari d’olis vegetals com el de gira-sol, el de blat de moro o el de soja.

Linoleic acid and the Linolenic acid are denominated essential fatty acids (EFA), since they can only be obtained from the diet. These fatty acids are found in vegetables, nuts and cereals, but they come mainly from the consumption of vegetal oils, like sunflower, corn or soybean oils. The polyunsaturated fatty acids form in the organism from the consumption of EFA, but they can also be obtained directly through the diet, basically from the fish consumption.

Azido linoleikoari eta azido linolenikoari gantz-azido esentzialak (GAE) deitzen zaie, dietari esker bakarrik lor litezke eta. Gantz-azido hauek barazki, fruitu lehor eta zerealetan daude, baina, batez ere, jatean, landare-olioak (ekilorea, artoa edo soja) kontsumitzetik etortzen dira.
