In ceramics I was influenced…I went I had a Canada Council [grant], and I was in Japan in 1966. And their philosophy of…it’s not just yin-yang but very finished but unfinished parts, hard/soft combination of…it’s actually…the concept of yin yang is a big influence on my work. I’ll do a very kind of precise form and then manipulate it somewhat so that you know the preciseness is not there but it’s still there. And the same thing with the surface put on a very kind of spontaneous, or what I think is spontaneous decoration on a very kind of traditional classical ceramic form. If you think of life forces…if you think of growth in all forms like the making of babies, the voluptuousness of a delicious apple. These are organic qualities, and clay, being a product of the earth, is organic and has a life of its own. But you can also with your own kind of feelings for organic qualities, you can develop them within the materials you are using. How do you make a sexy pot right? It’s organic and making it voluptuous and sexy – it’s like a beautiful woman is voluptuous. You can make pot that is like a beautiful woman, right, voluptuous.

En céramique, j’ai été influencé par le Japon où j’étais allé en 1966 parce que j’avais reçu une subvention du Conseil des arts du Canada. Pour les Japonais, ce n’est pas seulement le côté yin-yang. Il y a l’opposition fini/non fini, dur/mou. Mais le concept du yin-yang a une grande influence sur mon oeuvre. Je vais faire une forme précise que je vais ensuite quelque peu manipuler pour qu’on sache que la précision n’est pas là tout en y étant. C’est la même chose avec la surface. Je vais appliquer une décoration spontanée, ou ce que je crois être une décoration spontanée, sur une céramique dont la forme est classique, traditionnelle. Si vous pensez aux forces vitales … à la croissance dans toutes les formes: quand on fait des bébés, la volupté d’une pomme délicieuse, ce sont des qualités organiques. Et l’argile, qui est un produit de la terre, est organique et à sa propre vie. Et si vous appréciez les qualités organiques, vous pouvez les intégrer aux matériaux que vous utilisez. Vous pouvez rendre un pot sexy. C’est une forme organique que vous rendez voluptueuse, comme une belle femme est voluptueuse. Un pot peut être comme une belle femme voluptueuse.

Cette aide sera donc imposable pour l'artiste à titre de revenu d'emploi. Similarly to Warhol, they were interested in certain notions of transgression, of bringing other images of gender and sexuality into art and turning against the consensus culture of the beautiful and civilized. Es geht dabei sicher auch um eine Frustration mit den Produktionsbedingungen, mit denen man konfrontiert ist. Ein anderes Beispiel ist etwa die britische Künstlergruppe COUM Transmissions, die 1976 im Londoner ICA erstmals als die Band Throbbing Gristle aufgetreten ist und sich ab da eigentlich aus dem Kunstkontext rausbewegt hat. Sie waren eine ziemlich extreme Künstlergruppe, spürbar beeinflusst von den Wiener Aktionisten, die radikale Performances gemacht haben. Es ging ihnen, ähnlich wie bei Warhol, um bestimmte Vorstellungen von Transgression, dass man andere Geschlechterbilder, andere Bilder von Sexualität in die Kunst bringt und sich gegen die Konsenskultur des Schönen und Gesitteten wendet. Anstatt sich weiter mit Art Council Stipendien über Wasser zu halten und für ein recht kleines Kunstpublikum aufzutreten, haben sie dieses Ziel als Band Throbbing Gristle mit dem Prinzip Popmusik verknüpft. Sie haben gesagt, wir machen unser eigenes Plattenlabel, wir bringen Platten raus, wir machen Konzerte und docken an die Subkultur an, die es in der Musik gibt, aber auch wiederum unter eigenen Bedingungen, mit einer eigenen Ästhetik.

Au début du mois de mai 2011, des membres du groupe Nanisiniq : Projet d'histoire d'Arviat ont effectué une visite de trois jours à Bibliothèque et Archives Canada (BAC), dans le cadre de leur séjour dans la région de la capitale nationale. Entre autres activités, le groupe de jeunes chercheurs a fouillé parmi des centaines d'images d'archives pour tenter de trouver le nom des Inuits qui y sont représentés. Cette activité s'inscrivait dans le cadre du projet de mobilisation communautaire Un visage, un nom, qui met à contribution de jeunes Inuits et leurs aînés. Le groupe était composé de quatre jeunes Inuits et d'un aîné de la collectivité d'Arviat, au Nunavut, ainsi que de deux membres du corps professoral et d'un assistant à la recherche de l'Université de la Colombie Britannique. Le projet, dirigé par le professeur Frank Tester de l'Université de la Colombie Britannique, a reçu une subvention du Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines en 2009.

L'octroi d'une dérogation à la Thaïlande a été approuvé par le Conseil général lors d'une réunion qui a immédiatement suivi celle du Conseil du commerce des marchandises.
