Davanti alla casa del sarto scorreva un fiume attraversato da una passerella. I due mascalzoni presero una sega e la usarono per segare la passerella nel mezzo. Non appena ebbero finito gridarono: "Ehi! mastro Böck vieni fuori! Sarto, sarto, boh, boh, boh!"

Master Buck also lived in the village. He was a tailor and made suits, long trousers, waistcoats and warm coats. If a button fell off or something needed darning Master Buck would sort it out. Everyone in the village liked him and, precisely for that reason, Max and Moritz wanted to play a trick on him. A stream flowed in front of the tailor's house and the path ran over a plank to cross it. The two rascals took a saw and cut right through the middle of this plank. When they were finished they called out "Come out, come out! You old goat! Buck the tailor, meh, meh, meh!"

Au village vivait également maître Bouc, le tailleur. Il confectionnait des costumes, des pantalons longs, des vestes et des manteaux bien chauds et était toujours prêt à recoudre un bouton ou à reprendre un vêtement. Comme il était très respecté par les habitants du village, Max et Moritz décidèrent de lui jouer un tour. Il y avait devant la maison du tailleur un petit pont qui passait sur un ruisseau. Les deux garnements prirent une scie et scièrent le pont en son milieu. Lorsqu'ils eurent fini leur méchant ouvrage, ils crièrent : « Sort donc, vieux bouc ! Bê, bê, bê ! »
