It is crucial to know what specific psychological treatments are most effective for each problem. This requires extensive and up-to-date reviews by professionals with the aim of providing a "good quality" service. This symposium presents first a review of the empirical studies on parent training programs conducted in the last 16 years. It classifies the programs according to their quality and clinical validity taking into account the APA criteria on empirical treatments. Two presentations will be devoted to presenting two of these trainings for parents. In one hand, the first application in Spain of the Incredible Years Program, a project started in 2013 jointly by the Children's Services of the City Council of Donostia-San Sebastián and the Diputación Foral de Guipuzkoa, and the University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU, will be presented. On the other hand, we will present the fundamental characteristics of the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a well-established therapy for children's problems such as disruptive behaviors, challenging negativist disorder (ND), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and child victims of abuse or in a situation of risk. Finally, the application of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy in a seven-year-old girl with ND and her three-year-old sister with behavioral problems will be described through the 2-session intervention. It showed positive results between pre- and posttreatment evaluations.
