Salonların ilkinde Antik mezar taş ve rölyefleri sonra, Anadolu Pers egemenliği, Afrodisias buluntularının yer aldığı Kenan Erim salonu, Efes, Milet ve Afrodisias'tan eserler sergilenen Anadolu'nun üç Mermer Şehri salonu, Hellenistik devir Heykelleri, Menderes Manisa'sı ve nihayet Hellenistik tesirli Roma ve Roma devri heykelleri salonları bulunur.

The collection of classical antiquities displayed here is world class and - rarely for Istanbul - everything is well lit and comprehensively labelled. Sitting within the grounds of the Topkapı Palace, the museum was founded in the mid-19th century in an attempt to stanch the flow of antiquities being spirited out of the country by foreigners to fill the museums of Europe. Starting with the pre-classical world, the museum covers 5,000 years of history, with artefacts gathered from all over Turkey and the Near East and grouped thematically.

Die Kollektion der hier ausgestellten klassischen Antiquitäten hat Weltklasse und ist – eine Seltenheit in Istanbul – gut ausgeleuchtet und ausführlich beschriftet. Das Museum auf dem Gelände des Topkapı-Palasts wurde Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts gegründet. Damit sollte der Fluss der Antiquitäten eingedämmt werden, die damals in großer Zahl von Ausländern aus dem Land geschafft wurden, um die europäischen Museen zu füllen. Beginnend mit der vorklassischen Zeit deckt das Museum mit thematisch sortierten Artefakten aus allen Teilen der Türkei und des Nahen Ostens 5.000 Jahre Geschichte ab.
