The tips of my toes are already dangling over the abyss as my cautious conscious self hesitates, aware of the height and the jagged rocks that line the turquoise pool below me. I read “Jump!” on the lips of our guide who is already waiting for me in the rock pool below with my husband and my son. I close my eyes and feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

Ich stehe am Rand des acht Meter hohen Felsens und das Tosen der wilden Wassermassen verschluckt alle Geräusche. Nur meinen Herzschlag, den kann ich spüren. Und zwar ziemlich schnell. Meine Zehenspitzen ragen schon über den Abgrund und mein vorsichtiges Ich zögert ob der Höhe und der schroffen Felsen, die den türkisfarbenen Wassertümpel unter mir säumen. Von den Lippen des Guides, der bereits mit meinem Mann und Sohn unten im Felspool auf mich wartet lese ich ab: „Spring!“. Ich schließe kurz die Augen, fühle das Adrenalin in meinen Adern rauschen. Ich öffne die Augen, konzentriere mich auf den Landepunkt in der Poolmitte und springe kraftvoll ab. „Juhuuuuuuuu!“, höre ich meine Familie noch jubeln, bevor ich ins sprudelnde Wasser eintauche. Und bereits unter Wasser breitet sich ein stolzes Grinsen auf meinem Gesicht aus.
