Jednak ze strony rządu USA nie należy oczekiwać interwencji z uwagi na tamtejsze, zbyt silne proizraelskie lobby, ocenia dziennik The Independent: "Władza rodzi się z wyobrażenia o niej, a pod względem rozmiaru władzy żadna organizacja nie może się równać z AIPAC - Amerykańsko-Izraelskim Komitetem Spraw Publicznych. Although the Middle East peace process is once more on the rocks hopes that the US government will step in are in vain because the Israel lobby has too much clout, writes the daily The Independent: "Power lies in the perception of power, and no organisation in Washington is perceived to wield more power than AIPAC, the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee. For proof, look no further than January 2009, when most of the rest of the world was horrified at the Israeli offensive in Gaza. At that moment the US House of Representatives, by a vote of 390 to five, chose to blame the entire crisis on Hamas. Now the lobby is working to defuse the present row, naturally on Israel's terms. ...The settlements in East Jerusalem will go ahead whatever the US thinks. The proximity talks, even if they do proceed, are doomed in advance."

Les efforts de paix au Proche-Orient sont de nouveau en danger. On ne peut toutefois pas s'attendre à une intervention du gouvernement américain, craint le quotidien The Independent : "Le pouvoir réside dans la perception du pouvoir, et aucune autre organisation à Washington ne semble exercer plus de pouvoir que l'AIPAC, le Comité américano-israélien pour les affaires publiques. Pour s'en persuader, il suffit de voir ce qui s'est passé en janvier 2009, quand la majorité du reste de la planète était horrifiée par l'offensive israélienne à Gaza. À ce moment-là, la Chambre des représentants américaine, par un vote de 390 contre cinq, choisissait d'attribuer la responsabilité de toute la crise au Hamas [l'organisation terroriste palestinienne]. Zur gleichen Zeit einigte sich das US-Abgeordnetenhaus mit 390 zu fünf Stimmen darauf, dass die Schuld allein die [palästinensische Terror-Organisation] Hamas treffe. Jetzt arbeitet die Lobby daran, den akuten Konflikt zu entschärfen, natürlich zu den Bedingungen Isarels."
