Fire warning systems consist of two main components: warning alarms (the so-called sensors) to automatically detect and indicate a fire, and devices to receive alarm signals and information on the damage (the so-called central control units). Kapsch offers a wide range of technical and functional solutions, built on products of world-renowned manufacturers. All the products are certified to conform with the EU Construction Products Directive and the Polish standards set by the CNBOP. In particular, Kapsch utilizes technologies offered by Bosch Security, a leading company in the field. Depending on the customer's specific needs, there are different types of sensors to choose from: optical sensors, thermal sensors, chemical sensors, or even multi-sensor detectors with adjustable sensitivity settings. They can detect smoke, heat or – as in the case of chemical sensors – gases produced in combustion (e.g. carbon monoxide). The principle of operation is quite simple: once a sensor detects fire, it sends a signal to the central control unit, i.e. an up-to-date computer that activates the alarm. The solution may be enhanced with an additional fire monitoring system. This function allows for alarm visualization and indicates the precise location of the fire on the building layout plan. The system can also indicate a specific sensor and give the name of the room. The central control unit of the fire warning system can automatically transfer alarm signals to other affiliated security systems. In such cases, it can trigger pre-programmed reactions such as starting the anti-smoke system or firefighting installation.
