The capital of the province, the Hague, hosts some immensely interesting and also famous museums, such as the Het Mauritshuis which hosts some of the best art collections in the world, and the Gemeentemuseum with modern art. Rotterdam is another city you must visit from a last minute holiday apartment in South Holland, it is just amazing in its architecture, it is the biggest port in Europe and among the biggest ones in the world actually. Besides, this city also hosts modern architecture and some great museums as well, such as the Boyman’s van Beuningen Museum. In Delft, the Stedelijk Museum Het Prinsenhof is a great choice. The town of Gouda is much famed for its cheese, while in Leiden, the hometown of Rembrandt, you will find the oldest university in the country as well. There are various events and festivals in South Holland throughout the year, such as the Tulip Exhibitions in spring at Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, the International Fireworks Festival in the Hague which you can witness during a summer holiday in South Holland, the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January, and many others.
