Once the consular head of post has arrived in Switzerland, the Embassy concerned must send Protocol a request for registration of the consular head of post with a photocopy of his/her passport and two recent passport photographs; the same requirements apply to any persons authorised to accompany him/her (Article 20, paragraph 1, Host State Ordinance, HSO).

L’Ambassade doit sans délai notifier au DFAE (Protocole) la fin du mandat d’un chef de poste en précisant la date exacte de la fin de ses fonctions et, le moment venu, en restituant la/les carte(s) de légitimation. To strengthen this position, on 22 June 2007, the Swiss Parliament adopted a law that brought together all the existing legal bases in relation to host state policy -- the Federal Act on the Privileges, Immunities and Facilities and the Financial Subsidies granted by Switzerland as a Host State (Host State Act, HSA). The period allowed for a referendum having expired unused, the Federal Council on 7 December 2007 adopted an implementation ordinance (Host State Ordinance, HSO).

Il ruolo della Svizzera quale Stato ospite è riconosciuto a livello mondiale, in particolare grazie alla «Ginevra internazionale». Per rafforzare questa posizione, le Camere federali hanno adottato, il 22 giugno 2007, una legge che raccoglie le basi legali in materia di politica dello Stato ospite. Si tratta della legge sullo Stato ospite (LSO) o legge federale sui privilegi, le immunità e le facilitazioni, nonché sugli aiuti finanziari accordati dalla Svizzera quale Stato ospite. Essendo scaduto inutilizzato il termine per il referendum, il Consiglio federale ha adottato il 7 dicembre 2007 l'ordinanza contenente le disposizioni d'esecuzione della LSO (Ordinanza sullo Stato ospite, OSOsp). La LSO e l'OSOsp sono entrate in vigore il 1° gennaio 2008.

The acquisition of property for official purposes by institutions benefiting from privileges and immunities and exemptions as defined under Article 2, paragraph 1, of the Host State Act of 22 June 2007 (HSA) is governed in its entirety by Chapter 3 (articles 16 and 17) of the aforementioned Act. The provisions relating to the implementation thereof can be found in Chapter 5 (articles 25 and 26) of the Host State Ordinance of 7 December 2007 (HSO).

L’acquisition d’un immeuble effectuée à des fins officielles par des bénéficiaires institutionnels de privilèges, d’immunités et de facilités visés à l’art. 2, al. 1, de la loi du 22 juin 2007 sur l’Etat hôte (LEH) est régie exclusivement par le chapitre 3 (art. 16 et 17) de la loi précitée. Les dispositions d’exécution y relatives se trouvent au chapitre 5 (art. 25 et 26) de l’Ordonnance du 7 décembre 2007 sur l’Etat hôte (OLEH).
