This merciful God is faithful in his mercy and St Paul says something beautiful: if you are not faithful to him, he will remain faithful, for he cannot deny himself. Faithfulness in mercy is the very being of God. For this reason God is totally and always trustworthy. A solid and steadfast presence. This is the assurance of our faith. Thus, in this Jubilee of Mercy, let us entrust ourselves to him totally, and experience the joy of being loved by this “God who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness”.

The official website for the Jubilee has already been launched: www.iubilaeummisericordiae.va, and can be accessed also at www.im.va. The site is available in seven languages: Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Polish. On the site you will find official information regarding the calendar of the major public events, information for participating in the events with the Holy Father, and all of the official communications regarding the Jubilee. Also, through the site, dioceses will be able to receive information and pastoral suggestions, register pilgrimage groups, and relay to us their local diocesan projects. The website uses a number of social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus and Flickr) through which we will be able to provide updates on the Holy Father’s initiative and follow in real time the major events as they take place. We have also been studying the possibility of an app with which to better integrate all this information.

Es ist dieser Gott, der reich an Erbarmen und Vergebung ist. Ein Gott, der langmütig und reich an Huld ist, langsam im Zürnen und reich an Vergebung für tausend Generationen (vgl. Num 14,18). Eine Definition Gottes, die wir durch die ganze Bibel hindurch finden werden, vor allem in den Psalmen (Ps 103,8 – Ps  145,8).

Le letture di oggi, invece, ci invitano a focalizzare la nostra attenzione su un altro punto. Chi deve cambiare più radicalmente è il “nostro Dio”. Non è che deve cambiare Dio. Deve cambiare la nostra immagine di Dio e la nostra esperienza di Dio. Sarà, allora, forse questo il punto sul quale si deciderà la vera conversione: quando scopriremo realmente il volto del nostro Dio. Almeno, questa è l’esperienza dei grandi convertiti, come san Paolo o Sant’Agostino. Non fecero grandi sforzi né cambiarono la loro vita, all’inizio. Tutto divenne una conseguenza del fatto di aver scoperto Dio e chi era Dio nella loro vita.
