De Europese Unie trekt 3,5 miljoen euro uit voor het nieuwe wolkenonderzoeksprogramma EUCLIPSE. Wetenschappers op het gebied van de groene (bio-)economie, afkomstig uit verschillende werelddelen, hebben in Portugal de ‘Global Biorenewables Research (GBR) Society’ opgericht. Volgens Prof. Joaquim Cabral, directeur van het Portugese ‘Institute for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (IBB) “zal dit onafhankelijke netwerk wetenschappelijke publicaties op het gebied van duurzame ‘groene’ producten, zoals biobrandstoffen, toetsen”. Hiermee voorziet het netwerk in de behoefte van beleidsmakers aan betrouwbare informatie. Het netwerk wil toewerken naar een officieel erkend keurmerk voor de kwaliteit van onderzoek op dit gebied.
