Purpose: Reading is the main complaint of central field loss (CFL) patients and reading fluency might depend on visual and psychosocial factors, thus this study assesses whether visual and psychosocial variables can predict reading performance (RP) after reading rehabilitation program (IOBA).

Patients without previous experience of low vision optical aids use underwent a vision rehabilitation program (the IOBA-RRP). Visual (reading speed and duration, visual acuity and magnification) and psychosocial questionnaire outcomes were recorded before and after undergoing the 6-week training. Odds ratios (OR´s) were calculated to assess the predictive value of these variables.

He has participated in more than 40 research projects such as assistant researcher in competitive calls and is principal investigator of regional and European projects of educational neurobiomarketing. Sus principales líneas de investigación se centran en la lectura en pacientes con defectos de campo central, la evaluación de tecnología sanitaria, la calidad de vida en pacientes con discapacidad, la rehabilitación de pacientes con defectos neurologicos y la innovación educativa en ciencias de la salud. Es autora y coautora de artículos nacionales e internacionales en revistas indexadas e impactadas, libros, capítulos de libro y más de 80 presentaciones orales y en panel en congresos nacionales e internacionales referentes a sus líneas de investigación. Además, es miembro de sociedades científicas y revisor de proyectos y publicaciones en revistas impactadas. Ha participado en más de 40 proyectos de investigación como investigador colaborador en convocatorias competitivas y es investigador principal de proyectos regionales y europeos de innovavion educativa. Actualmente, es profesor contratado doctor de la universidad de Valladolid y coordinadora de la unidad de rehabilitación visual del instituto universitario de oftalmobiologia aplicada Ioba
