No sooner than we draw a cup to our lips… fate has come. This film is an attempt at portraying a man, a participant in an eternally living funeral procession.

Thanks to the inertness and imperfection of the human eye, we enjoy the illusion of motion. Eye inertia is the eye’s inability to perceive all the individual stages of movement due to its great speed. It is measurable and on average amounts to 16Hz, which means we can see 16 frames per second. We can imagine our eye to be like a camera that captures 16 frames in one second, which are then spun by our brain at the same speed and that is how we see and perceive movement, but also the world surrounding us. Aside from seeing and perceiving the surroundings, we can also enjoy watching films, television, animation, internet, video games. In the 19th century a real explosion of innovations and inventions in the field of optics, photography and animation occurred, making this truly a golden age of optical devices, whose improvement affected the development of film and animation. Zoetrope, thaumatrope and flip book are some of the devices the workshop facilitator Snježana Gabelić from Sedmi kontinent will help the participants make.

djeluje u sklopu umjetničke grupe Kolektiv Variete Radikale u čijim publikacijama objavljuje niz ilustracija i stripova. U istom razdoblju objavljuje autorske stripove u tiskovinama Novi List, Modra Lasta, Kult, Arkzin, Homo Volans.
Illustrations and comics: In the 1995-1997 period he took part in the activities of the artists group Kolektiv Variete Radikale, publishing a series of illustrations and comics in their editions. His works from that period were also published in Novi List, Modra Lasta, Kult, Arkzin, Homo Volans. In the years to come, he published comics and illustrations in children’s magazines Šalji dalje and Modra Lasta, often collaborating with Krešimir Zimonić. Together, they created a comic book serial Vatrene ulice. In the 1999-2004 period he drew the Svebor i Plamena comic for Modra Lasta, based on Darko Macan’s script, and worked as illustrator on a number of books published by Egmont, Herceg Press, Abc naklada, Alfa and Znanje. His works regularly appear in Jutarnji list and OK! magazine, and he often collaborates with Q magazine. In 2007 and 2009 he was one of the associates of the Animafest management, designing posters for the world festival of animated film in Zagreb. He participated in numerous illustration and comic exhibitions in Croatia and internationally.

This is pure film – in form, rhythm and editing. Digitized high resolution images form a rapid flow of visual associations. A filmic Large Hadron Collider that lets images explode in the viewer’s head. Micro and macrocosm, sex and religion, old Egypt and the Space age are juxtaposed in this purely cinematic 35mm piece. A “theory of everything” way before modern physics could come up with one.

Wei Keong dobitnik je stipendije za medijsko obrazovanje singapurskog Ureda za razvoj medija 2007, a diplomirao je likovnu umjetnost i digitalnu animaciju na Tehnološkom sveučilištu Nanyang u Singapuru.

Granted a Media Education Scholarship by the Media Development Authority of Singapore in 2007, Wei Keong holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Animation from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He was the Chair of the Student Volunteer Program for SIGGRAPH Asia 2010 in Seoul and was a committee member for the SIGGRAPH Asia conferences in Yokohama (2009) and Singapore (2008).

Katarína Kerekesová (1974, Žilina) studirala je na Odsjeku za animirani film Fakulteta za film i televiziju pri Akademiji za glazbu i scensku umjetnost u Bratislavi od 1993. do 1999. godine. Upisala je doktorski studij na istom odsjeku i utemeljila svoju produkcijsku tvrtku Fool Moon 2009. godine.
Katarína Kerekesová (1974, Žilina) studied at the Animation Film Department of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts, Faculty of Film and Television in Bratislava from 1993 to 1999. She took postgraduate studies at the same department and established her production company Fool Moon in 2009.

This movie portrays the relationship between people who stay very close but do not understand each other. It borrowed the format of a comicbook to show two situations in one scene. The left and right page depict different places and different actions in one place.

The Drawer and the Crow ušao je u službenu konkurenciju festivala u Hirošimi i osvojio nagradu za najbolji kanadski film na festivalu u Ottawi 2009, a film Bijele jagode osvojio je nagradu za najbolji kratki igrani film na istom festivalu 2011.
Frédérick Tremblay directs and produces his own independent animated films since 2001. In 2004 he directed Remote Paradise, a cartoon animation short film produced by the National Film Board of Canada. Since 2008, back to independent production, Frederick has been working on a series of stop motion short films: The Little Abyss (2008), The Drawer and the Crow (2009), Princesse (2010) and Blanche Fraise (2011). The Drawer and the Crow entered official competition in Hiroshima and won the Best Canadian Film Award in Ottawa, 2009. Blanche Fraise received the award for Best Narrative Short Film in the 2011 Ottawa edition.

Cecilia Traslaviña radi kao profesorica na Odsjeku za vizualne umjetnosti na fakultetu Javeriana u Bogoti (Kolumbija). Trenutačno pohađa magistarski studij književnosti na istom fakultetu.
