In support of the UN Secretary-General’s Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health, the IWG serves as the global hub for innovation in the Every Woman Every Child movement. Comprised of five actionable task forces, IWG catalyzes the initiation and enables the scaling of innovations across technologies, social, financial, policy, and business domains.

An extensive consultation process with businesses and other stakeholders, through interviews and key events, including the World Economic Forum in Davos (2012), took place over the course of one year. Over 70 private sector initiatives were reviewed from five key industries including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, digital technologies, financial services and media & communication. It was launched at the London Family Planning Summit (11 July 2012), hosted by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the UK Government, at a special event organized by IWG, PMNCH and the UN Foundation.
