When his little sister Shamui accidently gets lost in the snow and is declared dead, the world comes crashing down on Kai and his mother. They barely manage to cope with everyday life in the village. What they don’t know, however, is that the Snow Queen Hattan found Shamui and carried her off to the ice palace. Years later Hattan threatens to freeze the grasslands, Kai’s homeland. As her wolves roam the countryside, spreading fear and terror, Kai – by now a courageous young man – is determined to save his folk and defeat Hattan once and for all. Wrongly certain of success, he confidently embarks on an adventurous journey with the help of the Water God. While his memories of Shamui constantly accompany him, Hattan’s wolves are closing in on him. Suddenly, he comes across a shy girl wandering in the forest, apparently lost. He fails to bring the woeful girl out of her shell. Kai doesn’t realise that the girl is actually Shamui, mistakenly believed to be dead. She bears a grudge against her family, because she feels they have forsaken her. Furthermore, her perception is marred by the magic of the Snow Queen, who raised Shamui as her own daughter. As Hattan and her pack of wolves seem to be winning, the Water God is weakened, Kai and his friends become dispirited, help unexpectedly appears. The visually stunning film was screened at the renowned Annecy International Festival of Animation Film in 2016. This is the third animation film by the South Korean director Lee Sung-gang, who had already won the Cristal in Annecy with “My Beautiful Girl, Mari” in 2002. (km) https://vimeo.com/207235368
