"Rafal Lukawiecki is a fine-art landscape photographer specialising in traditional black-and-white silver gelatin prints. His first solo exhibition, (Be)Longing, consists of twenty-four hand-printed black-and-white silver gelatin photographs of the American Southwest. The key theme of the show focuses on a feeling of a longing to belong to the beauty and serenity of otherwise very forbidding, deserted, and strange landscapes. The juxtaposition of danger, void, and abstraction with serenity, richness, and organic energy has been a source of creative conflict that has inspired this series. This exhibition has opened on Saturday 15 January 2011 in Kraków, Poland at the historical Muzeum Witrażu (Stained Glass Museum), al. Krasińskiego 23. It will close on 6 March 2011.

"To nie tylko miejsce kultu religijnego, ale i symbol Gruzji — piękna natury i niezłomności charakteru mieszkańców tej ziemi, którzy na niedostępnej górze, na odludziu postawili takie arcydzieło. Opuszczona Cminda Sameba zniszczała. W 1988 r. na szczyt wzgórza świątynnego poprowadzono kolejkę linową. Mieszkańcy Kazbegi odebrali to jako profanację świętego miejsca i zniszczyli kolejkę. Została po niej betonowa przypora dolnej stacji (w Kazbegi z tyłu za kościołem). Jeszcze w 2005 r. wewnątrz opuszczonej Cmindy Sameby nocowali alpiniści wybierający się na Kazbek. Obecnie świątynia po rekonsekracji jest pod opieką zakonników, którzy obok dzwonnicy zbudowali na zboczu maleńki monastyr. Kościół, wzniesiony z surowych ciosów kamiennych, ma intrygujące zdobienia w formie „wycinanki”. Wnętrze pozbawione oryginalnych sprzętów również zachwyca surowością. W niedzielę ściągają tu na nabożeństwo pielgrzymi, głównie z Chewi i Chewsuretii." (Grzegorz Petryszak: Gruzja w pigułce: przewodnik, Pruszków 2013).

"The Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century, and is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. The separate belltower dates from the same period as the church itself. Its isolated location on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature has made it a symbol for Georgia. The 18th century Georgian author Vakhushti Batonishvili wrote that in times of danger, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino's Cross were brought here for safekeeping. During the Soviet era, all religious services were prohibited, but the church remained a popular tourist destination. The church is now an active establishment of the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church. The church is a popular waypoint for trekkers in the area, and can be reached by a steep 3 hour climb up the mountain, or around 30 minutes by jeep up a rough mountain trail." (Text from Wikipedia).
