Premda se većina prijavitelja za predstavnička tijela u Gradu Splitu držala preporučenih kvota, ipak uobičajeno smještanje kandidatkinja na donji dio liste, i ne poštivanje tzv. zip sustava, rezultirao je očekivanim malim postotkom žena u budućem sazivu Gradskog vijeća Splita.

Although the majority of applicants for representative bodies in the City of Split kept the recommended quotas, however, the usual placement of candidates on the lower part of the list, and not respecting the so-called Zip system, resulted in the expected small percentage of women in the upcoming meeting of the City Council of Split. Considering that only 7 candidates from the 35 councilors in the Split City Council have been elected, which is 20%, we can conclude that a step backward was made, since in previous convocations, Split had at least 35% of councils. This only confirms the trend at the national level and the continuation of the politics of extraditing women from the public and political sphere.

Opći je zaključak da unatoč mehanizmima i zakonskim promjenama ni približno nije ostvarena ujednačena zastupljenost žena i muškaraca. Istaknut je pozitivan primjer Makedonije koja je nakon uvođenja kvota (svaki treći kandidat na listi za parlament/Sobranje je žena) ostvarila više od 30% zastupljenosti žena u parlamentu.

Application of gender mainstreaming and harmonization with the EU is unbalanced in some states. The general conclusion is that despite the mechanisms and legal changes are not nearly achieved equal representation of women and men. Highlighted the positive example of Macedonia, which after the introduction of a quota (every third candidate for parliament / Sobranje is women) achieved more than 30% representation of women in parliament. Women's organizations in Croatia are satisfied with the continuation of a separate Office of the Ombudsman for gender equality, especially since the establishment of this office among other things, is a direct result of the work of many women's organizations. The challenge of economic empowerment of women, especially the protection of the rights of pregnant women and new mothers, and a significant representation of women at all levels of political decision-making is in front of us.
