Tu čovjek doživi blizinu Božju kao na Sinaju. Tu je nešto posebno. Nešto što ni u Lourdesu ni u Fatimi ne možete doživjeti. Zato onamo dolaze mnogi ljudi, iz svih dijelova svijeta. A zašto neki naši svećenici ili biskupi na to gledaju krivim okom?

And if you are asking me about Medjugorje, my answer is that Medjugorje is a gift from God. It's a gift of God to our people living in Herzegovina. I don't want to get into the truth or the falsehood of the apparitions. On that regard I have my own theological conclusions, just as I have about Fatima, Lourdes, and all such shrines. But Medjugorje is God's realization. I was there on a few occasions, especially as a Government official during the tough times of the war in Mostar. Medjugorje is a spiritual oasis. There, one experiences the closeness of God as on Sinai. That's something special. It's something which you cannot feel for example neither in Lourdes nor in Fatima. That's why so many come here from all over the world. And why do some of our priests and bishops look on that with a critical eye? Because it's in the sphere of the Franciscan Fathers? That's very sad! I saw the Spirit of God at work there: Masses, confessions prayer, penance every day, all day, from early morning to late at night. To whom can this be wrong that people pray in this way, they confess, they sing and are happy, their souls are healed.

Wenn Sie meine Meinung zu Medjugorje wissen wollen, werde ich Ihnen antworten: Medjugorje ist ein Geschenk Gottes an unser Volk auf diesen Gebieten. Ich möchte nicht auf die Echtheit oder Erfindung der Erscheinungen der Muttergottes eingehen. Darüber habe ich meine theologische Meinung, wie auch zu Lourdes und Fatima und zu allen anderen derartigen Heiligtümern. Aber Medjugorje ist Gottes Werk. Ich war mehrere Male dort, besonders als Stellvertreter der Regierung während des Krieges und der Spannungen in Mostar. Medjugorje ist eine geistige Oase. Hier kann der Mensch Gottes Nähe erleben wie auch auf dem Berg Sinai. Hier existiert etwas Besonderes. Etwas, was man weder in Lourdes noch in Fatima erleben kann. Deshalb kommen viele Menschen aus allen Teilen der Welt nach Medjugorje. Warum aber schauen einige unserer Priester oder Bischöfe ungesinnt auf dieses Geschehen? Deshalb, weil das Phänomen in die Obrigkeit der Franziskaner fällt? Das wäre wirklich traurig! In Medjugorje sah ich Gottes Geist am Werk: dort sah ich Messen, Beichten, Gebete, tägliche und ganztägige Bußen, von morgens bis abends. Wen könnte es stören, daß die Menschen beten, beichten, singen, daß sie glücklich sind, daß sie geistig genesen...?

Se mi chiedete di Medjugorje vi dirò: Medjugorje è un dono di Dio al nostro popolo in queste zone. Non mi addentrerò nella veridicità o nella falsità delle visioni della Vergine. A riguardo ho una mia opnione teologica, come anche a proposito di Lourdes, Fatima ed altri simili santuari. Ma Medjugorje è una cosa di Dio. Ci sono stato alcune volte, soprattutto in veste di funzionario del governo nel periodo della guerra e delle tensioni a Mostar. Medjiugorje è un'oasi spirituale. Qui l'uomo sperimenta la vicinanza a Dio, come sul Sinai. E' qualcosa di particolare, qualcosa che non si può provare nè a Lourdes, nè a Fatima. Ecco perchè qui vengono molte persone provenienti da tutte le parti del mondo. Perchè alcuni nostri vescovi e sacerdoti quardano negativamente a tutto questo? Perchè il fenomeno di Medjugorje rientra nella sfera dei francescani? E' triste! Lì ho visto lo Spirito di Dio all'opera: ci sono Messe, confessioni, preghiere ed espiazione tutti i giorni, per tutto il giorno, dal mattino fino a tarda sera. Come ci può essere del male se qui la gente prega, si confessa, canta, è felice e guarisce spiritualmente...

A co się tyczy Medziugoria, powiem wam: Medziugorie jest darem Bożym dla naszego ludu. Nie będę rozpatrywał, czy objawienia są fikcją, czy prawdą. Na ten temat mam swój pogląd, tak samo jak na temat Lourdes, Fatimy i innych sanktuariów, lecz Medziugorie to sprawa Boża. Byłem tam kilkakrotnie osobiście i podczas wojny jako przedstawiciel władz, podczas konfliktu w Mostarze. Medziugorie jest oazą duchową. Człowiek tutaj przeżywa bliskość Boga jak na górze Synaj. Jest tu coś szczególnego. Coś czego nie można przeżyć ani w Fatimie, ani w Lourdes. Dlatego przybywa tu tylu ludzi z całego świata. A dlaczego niektórzy nasi księża, czy biskupi patrzą na to krzywym okiem? Jeśli dlatego, że fenomen Medziugoria ma miejsce w sferze działania ojców franciszkanów. Wtedy jest to żałosne! Widziałem tam działanie Ducha Bożego; odprawia się msze św.,spowiada, modli się, pokora codziennie i przez cały dzień od rana do wieczora. Komu może przeszkadzać, że ludzie się modlą, spowiadają, śpiewają, są szczęśliwi i uzdrawiani duchowo...
