Las mansiones que rodean la Plaza datan del siglo XVIII: la casa de Lombillo, construida en 1730, el palacio del Marqués de Arcos, de 1741, una de las casas coloniales mejor conservadas de la ciudad. La casa del Conde Bayona, de 1720, donde en la actualidad está el Museo de Arte Colonial, el cual alberga muebles, porcelanas, lámparas y una colección única de vidrieras.
