Da sich das Sonnenspektrum auf der Nordhalbkugel von demjenigen in Australien unterscheidet, kommt bei der Messmethode nach der europäischen Norm EN 13758-1 das Sonnenspektrum von Albuquerque in New Mexico, USA zum Einsatz, das in etwa dem in Südeuropa entspricht. Ansonsten gelten die Prüfbedingungen des AS/NZS 4399, d. h. die Ermittlung des UPF erfolgt am neuen, ungedehnten und trockenen Textil.

Since the sun spectrum in the northern hemisphere is different to that in Australia, the measurement method for the European standard EN 13758-1 uses the sun spectrum of Albuquerque in New Mexico/USA which approximately corresponds to that in southern Europe. Apart from that the test conditions of the AS/NZS 4399 apply, i.e. the UPF is determined on new, dry and non-stretched textiles.
