Mae’n fwy adnabyddus am ei deithiau drwy Lundain neu ar hyd yr M25, ond y tro hwn mae’n palu drwy atgofion wrth iddo sylweddoli bod cyfres o deithiau rhwng Porth Einon a Phen Pyrod yn gofnodion o ddigwyddiadau pwysig ei fywyd.
An enigmatic series of paintings by Ceri Richards, based on the theme of the ‘Black Apple of Gower’, is the provocation for Iain Sinclair’s return to the landscape of his childhood and youth. Best-known for his journeys through London or circumnavigations of the M25, here we find him digging into memory files to realise that a series of walks over the same ground, Port Eynon Point to Worm’s Head, become bookmarks for the significant stages in his life. Recollections of a meeting with the poet of place, Vernon Watkins, focus attention on legends of the rocks. And on the mythology of the eternal return: the dead and the drowned as unfulfilled witnesses.

Cynhelir cyngherddau cerddoriaeth gynnar Gŵyl Gregynog yn bennaf yn ystod ail wythnos yr Ŵyl eleni, a phen-blwydd Brwydr Waterloo 200 mlynedd yn ôl ar 18 Mehefin sy’n ysbrydoli’r rhain. Yn ystod blynyddoedd cynnar y 19eg ganrif, roedd nifer sylweddol o garcharorion rhyfel Napoleon ar barôl yn Y Drenewydd, Trefaldwyn, Y Trallwng, Llanfyllin, Croesoswallt a Bishop’s Castle, a chafodd llawer o’r swyddogion arbennig hyn eu hanfon yn ôl adref i Ffrainc ym 1814 i wynebu brwydr arall a marw blwyddyn yn ddiweddarach yn Waterloo.
Gregynog Festival’s early music concerts are concentrated during the second week of the Festival and are inspired by the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June. Newtown, Montgomery, Welshpool, Llanfyllin, Oswestry and Bishop’s Castle all housed significant colonies of Napoleonic prisoners of war on parole during the early years of the 19th century, and many of these distinguished officers were repatriated to France in 1814 only to fight and die a year later at Waterloo.

Similar to the classic story, there is a Queen who is desperate for a child and would do anything to have a child, even make a promise to a witch. However in Rob’s version we hear from the Queen’s closest friend and servant, Rose who also has a daughter, Eve. The Queen has her own daughter, Dawn but when she breaks her promise to the witch, Dawn is cursed to die on her 15th birthday by pricking her hand on the spindle of a spinning wheel.

Acclaimed Montréal artist Dana Michel will also be bringing her show Yellow Towel to Chapter between the 17th and 18th of November. As a child Michel would drape a yellow towel on her head so she would resemble the blonde girls at her school. In Yellow Towel she revisits the imaginary world of her other self in a ritual performance without cover-ups or censorship, exploring the stereotypes of black culture in a fascinating performance.

Mae cymeriad canolog Hugan Goch yn byw mewn pentref bach ar gyrion y mynyddoedd tywyll, pell. Un noson mae’n gwisgo’i esgidiau a’i chlogyn coch ac yn mynd i'r goedwig ar ei phen ei hunan, dan sylw llygaid anweledig.
The central character of Red Riding Hood lives in a tiny village on the edge of dark and distant mountains. One night she puts on her red shoes and cloak and heads into the forest alone, watched by unseen eyes. As the shadows lengthen, she begins to run… and the hunt begins.

"Saif y seryddwr ar bwys y ffenestr fel petai mewn breuddwyd oherwydd y wefr a gâi o weld ei arsyllfa ac uwch ei phen wybren lawn sêr. Dylai fod yn edrych yn awchus drwy ei delesgop ond mewn gwirionedd syllu ar ei hobi y mae a hynny â phleser. Yn y daflen y bu'n ei byseddu ers misoedd roedd golygfa nid annhebyg i hon. Arsylla ar ei arsyllfa."
"The astronomer is stood in the window in a kind of half trance because he is getting a buzz from seeing his observatory with a starry night above it. So whilst he should be in there with his telescope, breathing through his nose chomping on the eyepiece with his baggy eye he's actually getting some pleasure from looking at his hobby. The brochure he had thumbed for months showed a scene not unlike this.

Nid yw rhyfel erioed wedi datrys unrhyw broblem. Efallai fe’i rhoddir ar un ochr am gyfnod ond mae’n anochel y bydd yn codi’i phen unwaith eto, a’r ymateb fydd i ail-gydio yn yr anghydfod. Ar ddechrau’r 20fed ganrif, 10% oedd cyfradd colledion y boblogaeth sifil a laddwyd mewn rhyfel.
The sculpture installation showing in Volcano Theatre, Swansea in May 2018 reflects upon the memory of actions and experiences of humans over time. War and conflicts have been going on since the beginning of humanity; but why? No war has resolved a problem. It may put it on hold for a while but inevitably it will raise its head again and the reaction is to renew the conflict. At the start of the 20th century, 10% of those killed in war were civilians. Today, the reverse is true: 90% of those killed in war are civilians.
