Il erre dans le même brouillard théorique de l’argent qu’Anita Fetz (PS, BS), pourtant loin d’être incultivée. Tous pensent que la totalité de l’argent vient de la Banque nationale. Anita Fetz s’est exprimée ainsi durant le débat :« Nous avons trop souvent l’impression, et c’est le cas, qu’une grande partie de l’industrie financière se sert très bien du fait que la plupart des personnes n’ont que peu de connaissances dans ce domaine. » Les banques en profitent d’autant plus lorsque les politiciens eux-mêmes ne comprennent pas le sujet.

In Colorado, the production of extracts became a political football after legalisation, because there were a growing number of people who were severely injured or killed. In 2014, there were 32 accidents with a total of 17 people injured in the production of cannabis oil where BHO was used. This led legislators to legally regulate cannabis extraction in 2015. Until then, given the legal status of cannabis, there was no way to bring the people causing the explosions to justice. Since then, only licensed cannabis producers are allowed to make extracts using butane gas. The use of a naked flame in the extraction process is also totally forbidden now. In addition, municipalities in Colorado have the option to designate special zones for the production of cannabis extracts. Denver has already done so and extraction is only allowed in industrial districts there. Infringements are punished with jail sentences of up to 16 years. Private individuals who want to produce their own grass or hashish oil may only make use of classic methods, such as those using alcohol or heat extraction.

Daar mag de extractie uitsluitend nog plaatsvinden op bedrijventerreinen. Overtredingen worden met een gevangenisstraf van maximaal 16 jaar bestraft. Multilingualism, language politics and language minorities represent a particularly important field of research of the Contemporary History Section. In recent years, a series of research projects have been dedicated to these subjects. The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project "Universities as Social Laboratories: History of Bilingualism at the University of Fribourg" (2003-2006, Urs Altermatt and Christina Späti) analysed the history of bilingualism at the University of Fribourg regarding changes and turning points in the conceptions of bilingualism in different bodies involved. The project "Language and Identity Politics" (SNSF-Project 56, 2006-2010, Damir Skenderovic and Christina Späti) investigated the policies of Swiss political parties regarding autochthonous and allochthonous minorities since the 1960's, and with it the role of parties in processes of identity formation. Language was hereby considered as important element for the presentation and instrumentalisation of collective identity. Apart from these projects, several members of the Contemporary History Section have conducted individual research on language politics. Recent studies are Christina Späti’s habilitation thesis "Language as Political Issue. A Comparison between Switzerland and Canada since the 1960's" (2012) and Irma Gadient’s Master thesis "The Debates on the Restriction of Patois in the Canton of Fribourg (1872-1887)" (2010).

In Ireland, there are still verbal attacks against the Irish language and its speakers by pro-British politicians. The language is a political issue in the north of Ireland and especially in the culturally divided city of Belfast. Thus, pro-British unionists reject the Irish language as an element of Irish culture. They accuse Irish nationalist politicians of instrumentalizing the language and regard the use of the language in public institutions as a provocation. It is still popular to call the Irish language a "goblin" language. However, the number of Irish-language schools is increasing, despite limited finances. Thousands of children are learning the language – and Irish is also used as language of instruction. It is hoped that the language, which was classified as endangered by the UNESCO, has a future – despite the political opposition.

Nourrir la planète est le rôle principal de l’activité paysanne. Elle doit rester possible. Elle doit être acceptable socialement et économiquement. L’agriculture doit être respectueuse de l’environnement et contribuer à une amélioration climatique. C’est un modèle d’avenir.
