This video is a personal testimony of the last legal tenant of house no. 80/3 in Neklanova Street in Prague, from which squatters have recently been evicted by force. We saw it as important to make a film about the case of Jiří Kubalík, since mainstream media provide a biased picture, obviously missing the crucial points. Kubalík stood up against the unfair practices of real estate speculators and the community of Prague squatters backed him up because he was in a rather difficult situation and could have even ended up on the street. Since the squatters’ intervention, there have no longer been any problems with looting criminals, but, most importantly, the house, which was intentionally left to dilapidate, started breathing with life. An intricate network of subsidiaries of the Dutch firm, MIK. MAR B.V., P.O. boxes registered at Neklanova 3, the absence of communication on the part of the administration company run by Přemysl Davídek or the dubious role of the police caused further problems, which surfaced thanks to the activities of the squatters. The Kubalík case is a prime example of the practices of ruthless speculators and scammers, who use real estate properties to launder money thus causing real harm to our society. Not the squatters, who point out real problems, but the wealthy mafia, with the ready (albeit possibly unintentional) assistance of the Czech Police, are the scourge of our society.
