According to technical archaeologist Harm Paulsen, the two arrows could not have been fashioned by the same person. The fletching shows that one was wound by a left-hander and the other by a right-hander. Furthermore, the arrow with the extended tip was too long for the Iceman’s quiver.

Anche un così piccolo dettaglio, del resto, può fornire molte informazioni: secondo l'archeologo sperimentale Harm Paulsen, per esempio, le due frecce non possono essere state costruite dalla stessa persona. Das Besondere des 1991 am Gletscher zutage getretenen Fundkomplexes besteht darin, dass eine komplett erhaltene Mumie mit vollständiger Kleidung und Ausrüstung Einblick in die Tracht und die technischen Fähigkeiten der beginnenden Kupferzeit (3300 bis 3100 v. Chr.) gibt. Bekleidungsreste waren zuvor lediglich in relativ fragmentiertem Zustand aus den Pfahlbauten des zirkumalpinen Raumes bekannt, wobei es sich in der Regel um gewebte oder geknüpfte pflanzliche Fasern handelt. Tierische Materialien, wie Felle etc. haben sich dort nicht erhalten. Daher bietet der Fundkomplex “Mann aus dem Eis” eine Momentaufnahme eines kupferzeitlichen Mannes, der sich im Hochgebirge bewegte. Die Bekleidung setzt sich aus einer Mütze, einem Fellmantel, einem Paar Beinkleider und einem Lendenschurz aus Leder sowie einem Paar gefütterter Schuhe zusammen. Zu seiner Ausrüstung gehören ein nicht vollendeter Bogen, ein Köcher mit Pfeilen und Pfeilschäften, ein Beil mit Kupferklinge, ein Dolch mit Silexklinge (Feuerstein), ein Retuscheur, Birkenrindengefäße, eine Kraxe und diverse Reservematerialien sowie Knochenspitzen.
