The SRS system consists of a flexible endoscope with an integrated miniature video camera, ultrasound sensor, and surgical stapler. The endoscope is inserted into the esophagus through the mouth. A partial fundoplication is performed above the gastroesophageal junction by stapling the fundus to the esophagus.
